Doesn't anyone go to the Del-Tone gun range anymore? I called there to check out their steel plates range but they said it was down for the time being.

I've never been there, and don't have much time or $$ to go shooting these days.  The end of the semester is near, and I'm rushing to get some projects done at school & work.

Steel plate pistol gallery is down. Sounds like it won't be back up.

Things should have settled down now that Deer Season is over, I might have to go over and make sure my firearms work properly....

IMHO, that was the only reason to go up to Del-Tone.

Also, *THE* main drawback to Deltone IMO is the no rapid fire rule.  That includes double taps and failure drills.

Paulie the guy that runs the range seems like a nice guy.  maybe he'll relax that rule a little and get money from me again, until then I guess I'll have to shoot at other ranges.

you're right, the steel plates was a lot of fun. the rifle and pistol range could be better, but the main reason for me to go would be the steel.

Hey death451,

When did they ban the 50's?

I was there a few weeks ago shooting mine and nothing was said.

I went up there in Sep/Oct and was treated like an raging idiot!! I have been going to that range since I moved to Becker, long before Randy Luth bought it. All in all, the range has improved in quality since it's Del-Tone days, but no rapid fire, no this , threats of calling the sheriff and allegedly being "videotaped", etc (no video cameras or wires were even visible to my trained eye, at least for the range I was using), has made me think twice about returning there. I almost asked for my $10 back and left, but once I got to the range, it was a little better. I didn't renew my annual membership in 2005 because I was always getting harrased about parking. I am a disabled Vet and toting weapons from their parking lot to the range takes it's toll on me. Seems like the rules have gotten way too strict for me. I sure liked the casual days of the old Del-Tone, not the tyrannical days of Del-Tone/Luth. I have had discussions with Paul about this only to fall on deaf ears.

One thing they could consider in like Bill's North in Circle Pines, an indoor range.

(sorry if I sound atangonistic, but I really got angry with how I was treated the last time I was there)

it was explained to me awhile ago that they are between a rock and a hard place.  IIRC the neighbor across the road from deltone is the one that hates rapid fire and calls the sherrif for disturbing the peace.  they are also getting hassled from the city/ airport on the other side (prob why no 50 BMG anymore).  it seems that everyone around their would just like to see the gun range go away.  i haven't been there since the end of '03 when my wife worked for them (mostly because i live too far away).

I should have added that I did speak to Paul about the treatment. No apologies, just excuses. Apparently some MORON weas using the range and struck a house that lies beyond the range approx 1/4 mile. I know they have been fighting that battle for quite a while. Just like was discussed in another thread, people from the city are moving into the country and then expect stuff to just shut down because they have moved there. What about the police training course nearby ?? I get tired of hearing their sirens going, but, so what ?? Also, apparently, there is a full auto range nearby because many times I have heard full auto gunfire from across the road someplace. I'm not sure where that comes from, where it is, or who is even using it, but it's full auto.

All in all, it still doesn't address the hardcore attitude presented by the counter boy & Paul. I also found it insulting that the counter boy accused me of not being able to read their rules, which I have read time and again. I think I quelched him right quick because I read in excess of 500 words per min. and told him so. (Not trying to brag, just saying I felt very insulted)

The only thing I can say is the attitude I last received while being there was not at all customer oriented. At this point, I'm not willing to even assist them in keeping it open. A strong customer base can sway a city council.

There literally is another firearms range across the street from Del Tone!  The range is belongs to SC PD.  There is also a SCSU Traffic Safety Center down the road south on US 10.  They teach all kinds of driver training programs.  BTDT!

There are many people that seem to think the rules do not apply to them out there.  I admit the "old days" were a bit better, but there were some bad things happening then too!
