I picked some up at Streicher's today and was wondering if Federal was going to make 9mm in 115 gr. as well.

Do you have the relative stats for energy transfer compared to other defensive rounds?  Since the HST retains most of its weight on impact, I would imagine it's pretty good.

Also, some people have asked me how the round compares to the Black Talon.  Even though I know Black Talon is more of an AP round, I don't know as much about it as you do, so I thought I'd ask instead of answering him and sounding like an idiot.

Thanks!

I don't know of plans to market a 115 grain 9mm. I looked in the LE catalouge at 124 is the bottom of that scale.

The black talon is now called the Ranger SXT. Same eXact Thing, without the black nylon color. You saw one at our last ramge meeting, and QuinlinV has a picture or two floating around the boards here.

here is a bit of info on ATK/Federal products of interest.

I am figuring that you got the 124gr, or the 147gr, I may even have some in 115gr.  The 124gr in the +P is very impressive.  We water tested it last summer for our Alumni, and it expanded nicely and reliably.

the only reason why I ask about the 115gr. is because of my P7M8.  That's what it's designed for and heavier wt. bullets prevent it from cycling properly 100% of the time.

Makes sense. I stop by Streichers on lunch break sometimes. I'll ask them about it. Going to need some for the Glizak when I get it.

Fed, The HST retains almost 100% of it's weight upon impact and expansion, right?

From what I have heard...
Damn strait baby!

It is the most impressive handgun bullet I have ever seen. So far every round I have recovered, expanded perfectly just like in this pic.

The one in the pic above is 40s&w correct. (above the 45 one)

One of the other advantages of D.E. classes we have Jack.

What's a P7M8?

I've fired 50+ rounds through my Kahr PM9 and they all cycled perfect.  I've generally found the opposite to be true, in that guns that I've seen not cycle 115gr cycle 124gr just fine.

My p7 functions perfectly with everything, till I hit the 300rnd count then I get all kinds of problems. Until I clean it then it works perfect without a hicup for the next 300rnds.

I'll have to give some 124gr a try.

No not the P7m8. But (I have tried wolf through the USP's and they did not like it.

Tried SilverBear in the USP yesterday and worked perfect, also tried some 223 and it also worked good Still lower power but they have different grades also that seem more powerfull than wolf.

I might be team Bear from now on, more testing reqired.
