For over 6 years we have been running our Handgun-1, sometimes referred to Basic Handgun, as a one day course (8 hours) which is our CCW course. We have kept our cost for all one day firearms courses the same all these years at $110, as well as offered group discounts for those that wish to book 4 or more people at the same time. In light of the recent updates in the legislature, our staff is discussing doing a couple of our Handgun-1 courses in May or June for a one time reduced cost. We are usually pretty busy and booked at least 3 weeks in advance, so I am trying to see what we can fit into our schedule. Our courses go far beyond the States basic requirements, as our staff feels it necessary to do things right. We base our course content on what is real, works, works well, and is simple and natural. Basically we teach on what our staff knows and brings to the table from our real world experience. Most serious firearms enthusiasts in Minnesota know that we have been a long established training company and are not a fly by night operation. There are some very quality and credible long established trainers around Minnesota, so if our staff or calendar doesn't fit someones needs then please seek out a long established professional with a great reputation. I will post dates of any special course offerings as we can get them on the schedule. Our webmaster is about to publish our new website, hopefully today. Keep us Informed Sully! I'd be MUCH MORE interested in taking a CCW Handgun course for ARFCOMMERS than the AR15 course. That can be taken any time I have the spare money. What I think we all REALLY want is to take this course so we can get our permits FAST. I understand that it's not the speed with which one gets the training, but it's the quality of the training that matters. Defensive Edge seems to be of top notch quality, and if we could get something like this put together soon I'm CERTAIN that many AR15.com MN Members would be interested, especially for the quoted price of $110. What does the 8 hrs include? I'd imagine some portion to be classroom based to teach us proper use of deadly force, safety, and concealment techniques. Keep us updated! If there's a course offered pretty soon for this, I'd go! Somehow I'd manage to scrape up the money just like I do with my rent... |
| Sully, I just signed up for a course @ Bills in Robbinsdale for Thurs 5/1 at 8 AM, but I would rather take the course from you. Can you put together something for early May in the next 24 hours? I would try to cancel my participation in the other course if I could get it from you. |

I have gone over our schedule with a fine tooth comb and done what I can do. Keep in mind that May has already been pretty well booked for us. We are already doing 2 rifle armoring and instructor courses along with updating our staff on the new Taser International technology that is about to be released. Guy I trust you can do what you can do. Folks remember NOTHING can be done as far as getting a permit goes for thirty days. |
