I am inquiring to see if there would be enough interest for our staff at Defensive Edge to provide a one day course for members of AR15.com.  We could do this at our home based range in Princeton or if there is another range that wishes to host we are open to suggestions.  I am thinking of an intensive one day carbine course for all at a very low group cost.  I am thinking June sometime.  Let me know your thoughts.

What's the cost, and would you allow a 20" HBAR?  Not exactly a "Carbine"...

Would be around a 7 hr one way drive for me. Is the training you give to citizens significantly different than LE/Security classes?

How far does your training go. While I realize IPSC is not teaching proper tactics, I have shot 3-gun IPSC matches for 15yrs and was a Certified Range Officer for first 3 yrs. I could definatly use tactic discussion and shooting but don't need to spend half a day on how my gun works and how to clean it and how to clear a jam.

Just what are you invisioning for the seminar?

Also can individuals/FFL LE Dealers or anyone else get in on LE tactical classes?

I wanted to sign up for a Carbine Course at Hornady but the do them for LE only, no citizens.?

My interest is piqued but I'd like to know what is planned for the class.  Princeton would be doable but I'd prefer a closer range to the cities.

Count me in if you do it.  I might be able to scrape up a "defensive carbine" or 2 (or 10)

Count me in too - the sooner you have a date, the better, to avoid conflicts.

Would love a class. I actually just heard of Defensive edge last week and was looking at getting into a few of your courses. Of course it would be a great way to break in my new DPMS.

What I am thinking is a one day course based on the AR-15 system, but other carbines/rifles are allowed.  This course would start with basic fundamentals in the morning, mainly to get everyone on the same sheet of music.  Once everyone is playing the same tune then we will shift gears.  Like in SWAT I would never move faster than our slowest operator.  I have this theory that I live and teach by: "if you are not putting all the rounds into the same hole then there is room for improvement".  Everyone that has attended our courses will tell you that our courses are everyting&anything but basic.  All, from beginner to Tactial Operator, will go away having learned something and satisfied.  If you would like to check around, especially with those that frequent Territorial Gunsmiths in Hopkins, or Oleg at www.thehighroad.org , the crew at www.optionsforpersonalsecurity.com , they will tell you honestly what our staff and courses are all about.

For a one day AR-15 based course we would cover all the good base fundamentals to give all a strong foundation, lots of shooting positions, malfunctions, reloads, dispell old myths, site in considerations, shooting on the move, tactical considerations, transitions, sling positions and sling options, etc.   It will be a full day of shooting, with very minimal down time.  My guess would be 300-500rds.  Yes fat guys are welcome as well as old guys, ladies are welcome too.  Let me know your ideas and thoughts.

Ok Sully... I'm in... what is the cost?

Cost will be decided on how many can show up.  Basically the more that show the less it will cost.  So once a date is set in stone then we can see who signs up, and that will help dictate the cost.

We are thinking of the weekend of July 5/6 for a two day carbine course.  I will have to check on range availability first before I can commit out staff, but is there enough interest for that weekend if possible???

For those that have not seen the other threads:  We will be having a two day carbine course July 5-6.  Cost is $150 for the weekend.  Ammo use is a guess around 600-800rds carbine, and 100 handgun.  This will be a very intensive weekend of rifle craft.  We will cover bladed shooting, squared torso positions, one hand shooting, weak hand shooting, about 15 shooting positions from both strong and weak side, 3 types for forward movement shooting, rearward movement, four types of sideways movement, reloads, malfunctions, team reloads and malfunctions, transitions, maintenance, etc.  Again it will be a full weekend with lots to be grasped by all.  This is my favorite course to teach and I will also bring lots of great targets.  I am hoping that one of the Minnesota based tactical gear suppliers show up and offer some goods to all.  So if you are interested then get ahold of us or register online.
