I want to be sure I'm not doing anything out of order here...

I just received my Dept of Criminal Justice Training cert yesterday via email.   It's acceptable to bypass the sheriff's office (and save $20) by applying directly online with the Kentucky State Police, yes?

Yes and no. Yes, it is acceptable, but, no, you won't save $20. In fact, you will pay $10 extra. When you appliy online and then go to the Sheriff's office to pick up your license, the Sheriff will hit you up for another $20. The online application fee is $10 higher that the paper application and the Sheriff get his $20 up front in that process. You pay $10 extra for the convenience of making only one trip to the Sheriff's office for the online application as opposed to 2 trips for the paper application..
