| I got some ground near Campton and was wondering when to put some food plots in.I have seen as early as late Febuary but it seems a little early. |

Depends on what you are putting in - check with the supplier of the seed, Southern States, etc. Maybe check with KDF&W biologist too - for your specific area/ground.
Might want to look at stagered planting dates as well to bracket the maturity times. This can provide food for the critters at different/longer times as well as hedge against drought, flood, other weather issues. Good luck! |

What are you planting? Sorghum/millet food plot mix like KDFWR provides? I'd wait until mid April.

Thanks for the info. I was looking to plant some clover but I have to send in a soil sample. I don't have the option of planting different times since I live10 hours away. You could find a local? You can collect the sample and Southern States will analyze - of course you will want to get your seed there. They can give you the bag and instructions for that as well as planting. THere are deer specific forage blends out there. Biologic is a good one on my buddies place. Didn't realize the NY not KY - sorry about that. |
