A couple of weeks ago, i found a rifle on Buds website that i wanted to buy. I live in Frankfort, so driving there was only about a 30-minute drive. I called the store, to make sure the rifle was in stock before i left. The man i spoke to said "Yes, he have several of those, it wont be a problem". But, once i got there, i talked to one of the ladies in the store, and she said that they have those rifles, but they were stored in a different location, and it would take a couple of days to get one at the store for me to do a purchase. She then said she would put an order in, and asked me to come back in 2-3 days. Although i was disappointed, it wasnt a dealbreaker. so, i came back this past saturday (4 days later). This time, i talked to a man who then told me that i would have to order it online in order to get it to the store. I told him that i didnt want to buy a gun unseen, and that i wanted to see it before buying it. He then got very rude with me, and almost shouted at me, and said "Your not listening to me!". I was a bit stunned at first, but i just told him to kiss my ass, and i walked out! In other words, after 3 visits, and 2 phone calls, i still didnt get the rifle i wanted. I have bought several guns, and alot of ammo and accessories there, but it will never happen again!! If i have to pay a little more buying from somewhere else, i will. Some of these people are very rude, and have bad attitudes!!

He yelled at you? Sadly I haven't been to a gun store that hasn't made me not want to shop there. Something about gun owners thinking they know it all, I'll post my horror story after I finish the deal. Don't want them rubbing their dicks all over my purchase.

Yeah, he actually had the nerve to yell at me! I have never been to a gun store that treats their customers that badly!

I thought their on line sales was a separate operation from their store front business. They should probbaly make it clearer on their web site.

Once the lady offered to order it in for you, then that should have been it. No excuse for the other dude to get loud with a customer. I would take my business elsewhere too.

Their online store is a different entity from their brick and mortar store. If it is not in the brick store, you have to order it from the website (phone or email) and have it delivered to the store. You can then pick it up and pay for it at the store (which would give you a chance to inspect it before paying for it).

In any case, yelling at a customer is not acceptable (unless you started by cursing like a drunk sailor) so I understand your feelings. I have lower expectations so I have never had a big issue but I would not tolerate abuse. Just last week they messed-up my order by misspelling my name by one letter. That one mistake added about 7 days to fulfilling my order.

I've had similar issues with Buds going back years; to include their previous location on 60 and their old location in Paris. They often have fair prices online as we all know, but they are such a giant that I believe it hurts their customer service side of the house on-site. Here's why: Even after I got my 07FFL/SOT a couple years ago I still frequent their showroom as their LE counter often has prices that I cannot even beat as a dealer. Lexington/Fayette Co. is saturated with other dealers and they too, as noted previously by another poster; have a few rude employees. No matter what sort of business you go to, there is likely to be a ratio of individuals there with bad attitudes or who are just having a bad time for whatever unrelated reason and it effects their job performance. Maybe this ratio is 5:1 or 10:1, totally arbitrary in any case. Point being; the sheer size and scope of Buds simply opens them up to having more of these types on hand than other smaller shops. I don't want to beat down any FFL, as we are all in the same industry; but this is just sadly the case almost anywhere you go. Furthermore, when you are a multimillion dollar global dealer of firearms such as Bud's with a state of the art indoor range and on-site training group and this "better than the rest" mentality is beat into even the lowliest of sales clerks everyday it does not foster an attitude of individual attention to customer care. It's sadly almost justified in reality. Where is your focus as a business? The guy at the counter fingering a pile of 91/30's for the best candidate to turn into the ultimate tactical TAPCO deer rifle or a $250K law enforcement agency sale? An extreme example but we can see why they are NOT known for stellar service at the counter all of the time.

I swore them off years ago when the wife and I went into the old store down the street.

I was just looking at the TAP ammo that was in the glass locked case. Just looking need I remind you when a worker leaned over the case from the other side and said that is for LEO's only! Real rude tone. You can not and will not buy any!

It took me a moment to figure that he was talking to me. Then I was like

I said yeah, I can read your many signs stating that. OK? I was just looking! He then said you just can't buy any. I said Yeah, I am not retarded and can understand you and your signs, I was JUUUUUSSST LOOOKING as I was making sign language signs with my hands.

My wife pops off and said we have about that much TAP at home anyway because we buy our shit from better gun stores with nice people.

I love her!

He yelled, you called him an asshole.  Are you sure your attitude or mannerisms didn't set him off?  I don't know the whole story but after the first trip I'd have been speaking with the general manager.

Buds retail store sucks. End of story.

I do the majority of my business with Classic Arms & Archery now.

Buds store is different than the online store and are not at the same place. Treat the store like any other store. Walk in and see what they have. If they don't have it order it online from their web store and view it as 2 separate businesses

As far as i know, i didnt. I remained calm until he said that. I think what made me madder than anything was all of the wasted calls, and trips there. That, and that i was told a different story each time!
