I am going to try and make it up to Knob Creek for the machine gun shoot in a couple of weeks. This will be the first time going up there and I have a few questions. Plan to go up on Saturday and stay all day and until the night shoot is over. Just how big is the gun show?? Looks huge in the pics I have seen. Is there usually a good supply of surplus ammo there (7.62x39 and 5.45x39 is mostly what I am looking for)? Can non-dealers bring guns to trade?
Also, what is the Jungle Walk? I know it is a sub-gun shoot, but all the details I can find on it just say sub-gun shoot and $20 per run. Do you have to bring your own sub-gun or is one provided for you? Just wanting to get a feel for what to expect so I will have an idea of how broke I will be after a day up there! |

Get there early or else your gonna park on the other side of the creek.
There is every kind of ammo available for sale. Its under a very large pole barn. You can bring in guns but they have to be checked at admission where they will zip tie it with the action open. The jungle walk is half way between the main range and the lower range off to the left side. Just follow the noise. Machine gun rentals are on the lower range. Bring ear pro as it can get loud especially when the mini-gun cuts loose.I pack a cooler full of water and other drinks and keep it in my truck. It is alot of fun. |

The jungle Walk is all the way down the hill past the lower range in the woods. |

bring boots, not shoes
bring a backpack thats comfortable so if you buy something you can toss it in the backpack and not carry it around also throw some gatorade in the backpack. bring cash, no debit or credit is taken because there is no cell service or land lines in the gun show. not really sure how they do a background check if someone buys a gun. bring rain gear I park out on the 2 lane, i dont even try to fight the traffic in the parking area's edit: +1 on the ear pro, its LOUD |

They do bring in an ATM for the shoot. IF it shoots out of a gun I would bet money they have it there. I worked security at shoots throughout the years, and had ample time to browse yes they do have an ATM machine there. buddy last year pulled money out twice while there LOL and yes they have cell service there, I was using my phone while I was there all day. We also got there about 9-10am saturday morning and got to park about as close as you can get, off to the left of the main gates right behind the huey. Just depends on when you get there you could be out on the road which means a very long walk. |

I have been 4 times. From what I have seen, there is every kind of surplus ammo and machine gun part in the world there for sale. Normal new guns, not so much.
The only thing louder is a top fuel dragster. Bring ear protection! The night shoot on Sat is the most impressive thing there. Don't leave before seeing that. On the Jungle thingy they provide the gun, ammo, and mags as part of the price. Wear something you can stand around on all day and can get either really dusty or really muddy. |

Thanks for all ofrthe replies! I'll plan to get there when they open the gate and stay until after the night shoot is over. Hopefully I can get a parking spot smewhat close so I don't have to try and lug cases of ammo too fae. Might try the jungle walk too, just so I can say I have shot a subgun! |
