Anyone have Iglou DSL?
In the Georgetown area? I'm getting really fed up with having to call AT&T every 3 months because of some DSL issue. Last night and this morning it's incredibly slow speeds, as in everything times out. Customer (no)Service told me to remove the filters they supply and recommend you use . That would be great, but I don't want a hernia trying to move the large oak desk that's blocking the jack.

they are trying to see if one of your dsl filters have gone bad. Yes unplug ALL your phones and see if this helps, if you have plugged in a phone without a dsl filter it will cause static on your phone and cause the internet to drop and be extremely slow
unplug the phone line from the phone(instead of behind the desk) and see if you still have dsl drops. If you have the money/ time to be at home. You can call the phone company and have them install a dsl filter outside your house so you don't need the inside filters. It saves alot of time in troubleshooting |

*Update*
Turns out it IS an outside issue, just like I told them. The tech they sent out thought the modem had gone bad and replaced it. Still didn't work. After using our home phone to call the Central Office since his work issued AT&T cellphone kept dropping the call , he finally gets told a card in a Winchester office has gone bad. Needless to say he was ticked since he had a handful of trouble tickets for Internet outage and was just learning of this at 1400 hours.
Internet still out at home. |

If you still don't get satisfactory DSL, change over to a cable modem. The infrastructure is all owned by AT&T, regardless of who your DSL provider is. Cable in Georgetown is over saturated - I VPN to work and most nights after 5 PM it's faster to switch to 3G @ 1.5 MB than the alleged 20 MB time warner cable modem.. it can bog down to a few hundred KB in/out. |
