I'm going to order a new barrel for my bolt gun soon (I hope ) and was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable shop around Louisville that does fluting.

None I know can do that . If I rember Gray Roman has a big enough mill , but not that much tooling. Any machine shop could flute but must have indexer and a center rest to fit on the mill table.
If you are buying a barrel just buy a fluted barrel that is short chambered. Shilon offers that and I bet Douglas does as well. I know a guy who works for one company as a machinist and is a part time gunsmith and he may be able to fulte a barrel after hours at his other job. CEW |
