Very broad question.. AS long as you do not have any felonies on your record, and you can pass POPS standards. You are eligable to be an Officer. You need to find a department that will send you to DOCJT for Basic and then it realy is up to the Department as to what happens next. Generally you will have a FTO..field training officer..they use another term now.. I know this is a very brief description..LMK if you need more info.. You thinking of becoming an Officer or just curious? |

Per Kentucky Revised Statute 446.010 www.lrc.ky.gov/KRS/446-00/010.PDF "Peace Officer" includes sheriffs, constables, coroners, jailers, metropolitan and urban county government correctional officers, marshals, policemen, and other persons with similar authority to make arrests. You may also want to check out KRS chapter 15.380 through 15.404 for more detail on officer certification. www.lrc.ky.gov/KRS/015-00/CHAPTER.HTM ETA: The simple answer is it's the KRS legal speak term for all law enforcement officers. |
