May be moving soon to Lexington, looking in the Scott county area. Seems almost rural but within reasonable driving distance.

Anyone have any info on this area or any other areas they would recommend?

Coming from Ohio, any regulations or local laws to be concerned with?

Thanks.

Welcome if you do end up coming here (Lexington resident here).

Scott county is a good area, not exactly what I would call rural, but maybe it would be to some folks though.  There are a lot of people that reside in Scott Co, and work in Lex area.  Scott Co is also home to the Toyota Camry plant, so a ton of people living there and working there.

I wish I had ore info for you, but if you have more specific type questions, I'm sure some here could answer them.

Where will you work? Commuting will suck if you pick a spot opposite of where you work. IE - we can tell you the best routes to Lexington without suffering horrible headaches if you're interested.

Yeah, let us know where you are working and then can recommend spots in Scott Co. (Georgetown) or surrounding counties. Will help give you better info on the travel times and such. Like you surely wouldn't want to live in Georgetown and work south of Lexington, would be better to live like in Nicholasville then.

I will be working in the beaumont center off of New Circle and Harrodsburg. I have made the drive as a daily commute from the east side of Cincinnati off on for the last few years. I am familiar with the traffic and know how rough it can be.

We are looking for a place with some land for hunting / shooting and other outdoor activities.

A long commute is no problem it was 2.5 hours for my daily when i was working in that area and i am driving 1.5 hours now. Its the price you pay for more land and outdoor recreation.

Also are there any nice fishing lakes around the area, ones with decent ramps and no boat restrictions?

Thanks again.

Look at Woodford County or Jessamine County.  Easy commute to Beaumont from Woodford County.  BGSL (Bluegrass Sportsman League) in Wilmore is a great shooting facility - 1500 acres of fun.

Is this company currently hiring?  Since I graduated college I can't seem to find anything of interest.

To echo whats been said, Scott County would be ok, I would think the primary route would be down Georgetown road or I75 to New Circle over to Beaumont.

I would echo what was said about Woodford and jessamine. Even Anderson County which also has a good range and cheap (people wanting to dump) homes right now. You can get homes with land for probably a better price than the other places you are looking at. Its 20 to 30 minutes to Beaumont depending on how you drive and time of day.

Woodford would be a straight shot in on Versailles Road but its hell to watch out if there is an accident on that road. Land is pretty pricey in Woodford in my opinion as well but either of those three counties have good schools (if you have kids) and resale of property is generally good value.

Wilmore and Anderson Co. have the two closest ranges if you can't find property big enough to buy. Both are good deals and easy to get to.

Where are you working in Beaumont?  I'm looking to move to Anderson county since I currently work in Louisville.  I'd love to find something closer to Lex.
