Hey fellow kentuckians what’s the deal with Fayette Firearms, I hear no mention of them here any more, are they still in business. I know when they first open they were great to do business with and would deal with you to some degree. However the last several times I was in the store well lets just say "THEY WERE LESS THAN DESIREABLE TO DEAL WITH, PRICE AND SERVICE". Any input. Would like to make a road trip and would like to know if I should put them on my list.

Thanks

I liked them and supported them initially but generally stopped going there now.

Their stock never changes. Half of it is consignment (apparently from one estate) and they can't deal on that. Then they have the same old stale stuff as usual and get nothing I want in..just would say..we are thinking about it.

I take what business I do in lexington to Classic Arms (although why the heck the whole store shuts down at one time for vacations is beyond me).  I do some looking and per chance buying at A & M but thats about it now.

Those guys at FF appear to be in a continually bad mood for whatever reason. I said this when I first went in there that I hoped they would stay in business but for the life of me now, I can't figure out how they do and appear to pay 3-4 salaries at that.

I was there Thursday.  A show case that use to have Glocks in it now has Pistol Magazines.  Not sure what is going on.  Selection was rough.  It is a shame that they went down hill.  Selection and Prices were excellent in the past.

Yup, they appear to be slowly going out of business for a while now.  I quit stopping by some time ago, Classic Arms carries better stuff than I've ever seen from a gun store in Lexington anyway, a lot of "quality" AR accessories besides just the rifles and pistols.  Plus, the service I get from Classic is heads and tails above what I've been used to from the typical gun store.

Fayette was great when they took it over from Bud, but they have let it go since.

Is that the same place that use to be "The Gun Works"? Or at least the same guy running it? Think his name was Jim.

working on southland drive has its advantages

i got three stores less than a block of me

i bought my savage fp-le2 from fayette firearms a couple years ago.   they actually offered to help me so i bought it from them in a heart beat.   idon't get that at other stores, being younger has its disadvantages

i normally pay cash,  so i get better deals at evans firearms and archery.

edit:

gilbertsguns.com  and budsgunshop are good too

Yeah I live down by southland too.

FF seems to have the cheapest ffl transfers in town at $25 total.  If anyone knows of cheaper let me know, I only called 3-4 places.

I have gotten some good deals there but I agree the selection just isn't very broad, especially if you're into military rifles etc.  They have been doing a concealed carry class there, maybe that's been bringing home the bacon.

I agree, some of the staff are a little grumpy if not outright belligerent.  I've had good luck dealing with Tory.  He's a genuine enthusiast.

The staff seems pretty down to earth.  One guy, the owner I think, told me I could get a better price on an hk pistol (which I was drooling over, but just couldn't afford) at another shop because they had a rep deal with hk.  That might sound like sales suicide, but I've bought at least three other guns there since.

Classic does seem to have the best AR selection in town, if not the best selection outright.  Their prices do seem to be a little higher than fayette firearms for example, but cheaper than Antique and Modern Firearms.  Price comparisons based on a pretty unscientific method so don't flame me please.

Anyway just my 2 cents.
