Will consigning 10 or more guns at the same time bring unwanted attention from DPS or the ATF?

A "friend" bought way too much over the last year and would like to sell much of it now that the election went the way it did. This "friend" is a little concerned about the DOJ/ATF warnings earlier this year about selling without an FFL. "He" also heard DPS starts paying closer attention at 10 guns sold per year and "He" is already up to 4 or 5 in 2016 just from trading and upgrading.

Also, if the consignment check exceeds $10k, does the bank have to look closer or report it to anyone?

Your friend is good to go on both accounts !
Only time their could be a problem is if guns start being found at crime scenes- a pattern of large 7k + deposits or withdrawals that he cannot account for!

Do the paperwork and he is gtg!

What nutter said.

ATF doesn't put numbers on what constitutes being "engaged in the business" because you could conceivably sell a 200+ gun collection and not be a dealer.

He is nowhere near the level that brings attention. They are looking for a pattern, not a guy dumping stuff cause he needs money.

Consigning sounds like dropping off at a shop. I would imagine they put them on their books if they are in the shop for sale? Not an issue.
