Was going to post this, got beat lol. Anyways, what does this mean for Connecticut in general? How much does G.E. pay in taxes? How much will this effect CT's already crappy economy? Will we see taxes raised even higher to make up the loss of G.E.? Will we see new taxes like that mileage tax they wanted, or tolls? Will our state become Detroit 2: Electric Boogaloo? I can't wait to see Malloy's stupid ass speech blaming G.E. for leaving and saying it's the companies fault or something. |
|
Quoted: 78 mill on property tax alone last year. just wait until they donate the land to a university for a tax exemption malloys head will implode Ouch! ![]() I honestly can't wait to see Malloy's reaction. Going to be funny because like I said he'll somehow blame G.E. for leaving while boasting how great CT supposedly is. |

But Chairman Maolloy said 20 companies have moved to CT during his time as governor. The conclusion is that we are friendly to business and on a path to explosive economic growth, spurred on by billions of dollars spent on mass transit. |

Quoted:
The property is listed at $74M Fairfield's Mill Rate is 16.67 Property taxes = $1.23M Quoted:

Is there a list of these 20 companies somewhere? I'm curious. |

New York's attempts to woo businesses are rather transparent, begging them to move in on a tax holiday, only to get screwed later. Boston has had surprising economic growth, and their attempts to woo companies is seen as more genuine. It is an utter slap in the face to the CT pols to have GE essentially move next door. |
|
Quoted:
Article says that the Fairfield office is only 800 jobs of the 5,700 GE employs in CT. I wonder how long until the other 4,900 move out... A lot of that is GE capital which is being (or has been) sold off in pieces to other entities. I think a CTHF member works there, hopefully he will chime in. A donation to a university would be hilarious. |
|
Quoted:
HA! i feel bad for the employees who either have to pick up and move or find new work. but im glad they are shoving it up the governors ass I don't feel bad for any employee of GE who voted for Malloy/Democrats. they got what they deserved. They ultimately voted to send their job out of state. |
|
Quoted:
Malloy will spew some BS like "GE tried to hold us hostage and I would not stand for it". "I am bringing in 20 fast food franchises with 40 minimum wage employees so we just replaced those 800 jobs!" On top of that... He will loan them 15 million dollars, of which they don't have to pay back if they create 2 new jobs and stay in ct for the weekend! Way to go asshole Malloy...... you pig fucking retread! Owning pg 2

I don't pay for things but I'm paying this comes true. They need to donate all their shit to the university!

It's a sad, not a good thing that these companies are leaving scorched Earth behind. It only hurts those poor people here who can't escape.
The glee this seems to generate is misplaced as Teflon Mao doesn't give a shit. He's been promised bigger things for towing the federal line. He's gone, gone, gone in a few years just to be replaced with the next, and probably worse, puppet. There are a host of large corporations poised to flee, mostly high-paying upper-middle class jobs that will never be replaced. The Cigna/Anthem merger fallout will be huge compared to GE corporate. |
|
Quoted:
The other impact a corporate move has is on all the small businesses who have had GE customers so long they are like family. No one will replace them as long as Malloy and his people are in power; why move to Connecticut? they will bring in some dollar general warehouse and stack up 32 new jobs and malloy will claim a victory for Connecticut |
