Well I tried to do business with this local company. I drive through Southington all the time so I figured I could just order and pickup let everyone else. NOPE!
I placed an order on Sunday 11/27 for some of the Remington Golden Saber ammo with a rebate. 10 boxes total. Showed in stock. I put in the order comments section I planned to pick up and I immediately followed with an email. I received an email Monday AM, 11/23, stating it was too late and that the order was processed already and headed to shipping, sorry. Then on Wednesday 11/25 I get an email asking for my permit and ID. I sent it within 10 minutes of receiving the email. This morning, 11/30, I finally get a shipment notification and tracking number from them at 8:44am. I get two more emails at 10:17am and 10:19am today with copies of a refund. So now it looks as if the 5 little add on boxes of 5.56 ammo I added is on it's way for $16.53. I am pissed to say the least. Fuck this place!

From what I remember others talking about local pickup at Target Sports they called them to inquire about pickup immediately after placing order. Because you ordered on the weekend and what you ordered, its possible it was being shipped from their distributor or a third party rather than from Target Sport's physical location in CT. I've ordered stuff from online retailers and had something like that happen. Place the order through their storefront but item ships from another party. |

More than likely what happened, I know they do direct ship. A friend of mine order something that was "in stock", he called them and told them he'd swing by and pick it up, they explained it would be a few days before it arrived. ~g |

I am pissed off at this place on several fronts.
First is the email reply said it was too late because the order was already in process of shipping. Then exactly one week later I get a tracking number for a shipment that was in process a week ago? That is just poor and lazy customer service. Second thing I am pissed off about is, the ammo I wanted was in stock when I ordered it. So then they take a week to create the shipment and now the main ammo I want is out of stock and I got fucked on shipping AND tax for the ammo I didn't really want/need but "since I was going to go there anyway " I added it to my order. Third thing is there is no way to upload your permit or ID on their site. That took 4 days to get around to asking. Again pathetic customer service. I will not do business with this place again. I tried them once based on reviews here. I got my CMP ammo order nearly the time it took for this debacle. That shipping was free from Alabama, not $17 from Southington to Stafford! Target Sport is on the list of places I won't patronize. They had their chance and blew it 3 ways. I am tempted to refuse the shipment and call my credit card company. |

It took 4 orders before they asked for my permit. Called and emailed, I sent pic of ID and permit to the email addy.
Order shipped like 30min later. They only have free shipping on BULK AMMO which is usually 1,000rd or what ever is in a "case". If you added a few boxes then you'll pay shipping. |

I stopped in there about a year ago to see if I could just buy something on the spot. Apparently, this was their old M.O. when they were in Plainville/Farmington.
They told me to do as you did, place the order online and enter a note in the message box that I would like to pick up locally. She said that they have inventory in Southington but they also have another warehouse in PA. Apparently if the stock was in PA it could take longer to be able to pick up. It sounds like your order perhaps shipped direct from PA and that was that. Last month I finally placed an order as I was sharking out something that was constantly in and out of stock. When it came in stock I followed protocol (note in message box etc) My order went through but then a few days went buy and I never received a call or e-mail to come pick it up. I looked at my account on their website and my order vanished/deleted, I was like WTF. The next morning I nicely sent an e-mail with my order number and asked when I could come. (made no mention of the order deletion) She said, "anytime" and I picked it up later that afternoon. She credited my shipping and processed the final charge, no issues. It sounds like maybe somebody missed your message and as I said maybe shipped direct from PA or something. I guess the indicator to look for is if your order disappears from the system or not. If it does then they probably saw the pick up message. Sorry you got shafted here and had a negative experience. *On the permit note: She made a copy of mine when I picked up my order. Now when I log onto their site it show "permit on file" or some crap like that. |

I never place an order online, I always stop in for what I want several times a year. You need to deal with Sam, the owner, he will cut you a deal. The girls in the office are just following the rules. If Sam's not in, it usually costs me a little more. It also helps that I live 20 minutes away.

I made my first purchase with Target Sports last week and asked them not to ship until November 30. I expected it today, but they are shipping today 12/1. Not a problem. During my order I had made it clear I was not in a rush. A bit disappointed it didn't ship yesterday, but I expect they were buried in the Remington rebate ammo orders.
Two years ago Stag's website crashed during their black Friday sale, so I couldn't purchase an upper They kinda made good on the problem a few days later, but not completely (cost me an extra $50) they wouldn't completely honor their black Friday price. Neither of these two situations will cause me not to buy from either company in the future. However, companies like PSA, Cheaper than Dirt, SG Ammo and others that have basically told CT they won't bother working with us can kiss my ass and I still won't spend a dime with them. |

I don't trust email as a form of communication. If I can't get a human on the phone to iron something out ahead of time I won't place an order. SKD Tactical is a cool company but between no communication allowed outside email and no exchanges (only return and purchase new item) they really jammed me up. |
| Edge, you may have your mind made up however it sounds like some kind of internal mistake/s on their part. You didn't get what you ordered despite showing in stock, delay in processing, missed note regarding pick up and charged shipping on loose boxes. Perhaps you could call the owner Sam, explain your frustration and see what his response is. If negative then write them off. Mistakes can happen both ways, last year I picked up a case of xm193 along with a few single boxes of other stuff. Couple days later FEDEX delivered the case, I checked but was only charged once, admit I was tempted for a second but returned it. They were very thankful and admitted they probably would have never caught it. |

Happens all the time at work, people don't read the entire thing... or just the first line. I don't think edge will change many people minds, assuming they've already had a good or positive experience. Thanks for the info however. ~g |

I am not upset about being charged shipping. I knew I was paying shipping with my order. I added a few boxes on to make it worth while for me. I did not place a huge order because of the sales tax factor.
All the customer service failures have me not doing business with them again. It took a week from when I ordered until it actually generated a tracking number. Don't bullshit me because you are too lazy to make the order a will call. Then without any notice I receive 2 emails showing a refund. No explanation or anything. Automated emails. So my first and only attempt at using them has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I am not going to call the owner or manager. He should run his business properly. I don't need him doing anything special for me. Their prices are not terrific and with pay tax the place is no bargain. They just had something I wanted and I thought I would use this as a test. They failed so I am moving on. My goal by posting here was not to get a boycott started. I was just ranting. |

My first experience with Target Sports was great!
I ordered last week and asked them to hold shipment until this week. Received shipment only one day later than I requested (not a problem). Online ordering worked well. A couple of phone calls to them to check they got my request for delayed shipping, and later double checking were excellent customer service. I'm a happy camper and have no reservations ordering from them again. |

It took them over a week to ship an order I asked to pick up. Prices are not great and I hate giving the state more tax money than I already do. If I see a super deal I will try them another time. So many people talk highly of them so I think that alone warrants another try. Although many talk highly of Hoffman's and NGX and I have tried both of them several times and had nothing but bad attitudes and poor service. |

They raised their prices $20 to $100 on cases of Ammo after the Cali events. Wolf gold was $300, now $350 Zqi was $372, now is $420 115g plinking 9mm was $200-210, now it's $220-240 It looks like a bunch of companies are raising prices. I wouldn't be surprised if the ammo sales end soon and are replaced with shortages.... again. I bought .357 magnum from Target Sports at 12.50 / box during their sale. It jumped up to about $15 BEFORE California I was not planning on buying reloading supplies until next spring. Within 2 or 3 hours of this California incident I bought reloading supplies, because I'm not going to spend the next 2 or 3 years trying to find shit. I doubt I'm the only one. |

Sucks,
I had a great experience with them. Made the drive from southern CT and the girl at the window was saying "no" for buying on site. I asked if there was anyone else I could ask about the process and Sam came out to take care of things. Saved a bunch of money and loaded up for a while. Am thinking about another road trip soon but the price hikes are kind of annoying. Hope things settle down. |
