CT Fastrak grand opening will be this Saturday. All you NB and Hartford folks can visit each other on the buses. Enjoy them now cause in 6 months when they fail Malloy will say it was Roland's idea and he just pushed it through to make the Republicans happy. This time next yr it will be a bike path covered in graffiti.

It should make getting heroin much easier.

We should have a pool:

1. how long before the first violent crime(stabbing, mugging, rape, murder)?
2.How long before the design flaws are found?
3. How long before the state admits the fares are not enough and need raising?
4. How long until the first breakdown?
5. How long until it closes down?
6. How many people get stranded in the first snow storm?
7. Who does Malloy blame for any problems?

Just some categories to think about.

I think it will be a HUGE success. Once the legislature is successful in getting toll booths around the city, and driving in becomes cost prohibitive for people, the buses will fill right up.

Well the reasonable solution is to put tolls on the busway first. Anybody that can afford a bus can clearly afford the extra cost.

8. The entire "busway" is declared a failure and should have been a light-rail system. Another $500 billion is needed to "fix", the problem

Sounds like Libtard bingo.

I saw a report that the state is hiring a firm out of PA to have "high intensity search lights" between 7pm and midnight for the opening ceremonies. Built by a MA company, party thrown by a PA company. The new game is how fast can I possibly ship tax dollars out if this state. Guess there are no small businesses in Connecticut that do lighting.

There are not many businesses left in this state. Have to go to other states to find companies to handle stuff. With the huge deficit projected why are we wasting money one stupid shit like search lights? Cut the ribbon, take shithead's picture and call it a day.

Why is it government can't seem to stop wasting money on useless crap? Their argument will be "the lighting display only costs thousands. Our deficit is in the millions so this makes no difference to the budget.". I hope the bus line succeeds just so we don't have to waste money "fixing" it. However when it does have issues and fails I can't say I will be surprised.

As everyone, except the fuck head who is governor, knows automated light rail is the way to go. Also until you can take the light rail to the airport any system will not work. Instead of paving all the rail beds for people to walk dogs we should have planned a light rail system. Then it can be built a little at a time as demand requires. The start would be to build a intermodal terminal with plenty of parking. Then add short lines to serve the bedroom communities which have people who would use public transportation to save time on a commute. Something along the lines of BART.

Instead we get a busway connecting two dead, crime ridden cities. I love how they try to sell you on riding a city bus from other towns like Waterbury and Bristol. Yea those towns have so many people working in Hartford or New Britain.

This busway should take people only 5-10 minutes longer than if they drove. If you made the drive during rush hour it takes maybe 20-25 minutes to go the 11 miles. The bus will take 30 minutes. So worth it!

I read the study evaluating the alternatives prior to selection and implementation of the busway and I still don't know who developed the ridership demand forecasts.

...and I'll bet that 5% are mostly Central students going up to the bars in Hartford to get plastered on Saturdays nights.
