The wife and I bought a home in Florida, she is going for resident status so we can homestead the home.  For reduced tax purposes.  My question is can she keep her CT carry permit ? she already has a non res Florida, I hate for her to not be able to carry here in CT.

Your wife needs to live in Florida 183 days per year. In order to get the homestead tax exemption you need to file a sworn affidavit that your Florida home is your main abode. Otherwise you are just another tax cheat trying to avoid CT taxes.

Avoidance is legal. It's EVASION that is illegal.

While you would definitely have exposure if you're wife doesn't,  in fact, live in FL, it's all about what you can prove.

I doubt many of the people that claim FL for residency actually spend the required time there.

Eta:  if you're wife doesn't have income then CT might not be an issue. FL might be an issue if they determine she doesn't livee in FL.

She does have income in CT, Realtor, she will not be working in Florida, so all she has to do is make a change of address.. I am not homesteading, just her.
