Replace the factory sight opening protectors and throw in a set of sights. I second trijicon HDs. Then get holster and tons of ammo. Seriously though. Sights only. Don't screw with it.

Oh and yes..... Glock #1

Can be done by you. Or someone with a glock sight pusher. A lot of Gun shops will do it for you if you buy thr sights from them.

I have and vote for orange too. I have put two sets on and if I can do it I am pretty sure a monkey can do it. I would advise a sight pusher and not to hit them with a punch if you got night sight.

Ammo.  Lots
Mags. 5 min 10 is better
2 holsters.  I like a kydex owb for classes and iwb for carry plus mag carrier. I use 3. A double and 2 singles.
Sights are a must unless you have night sights already for it. I have a set of warrens with 2 single dots and a set of 10-8s.  Also had trijicons with the standard3 dots.

I like the Vickers slide stop and mag release. They work well for me. But they are not essential.

Get a Glock armor's book or something equal.  Really easy to do stuff to.

Also dummy rounds.

Night sights are excellent. The Glock 21 pre-ban I bought has them. They are nice, especially for home defense or carry pistol.

I love my 1911. The Glock just has no soul.

Glock #1

I use green night sights.  Standard trijicon.

But if I had to do over, trijicon HD in orange

I also like red fibre optic on range guns.

G30
It's my basement blaster (until the big stuff gets free of the safe).Night sights are green at night. I did them myself. Add a drop of locktite on them and it's going to stay put.

I would recommend a heavy set of springs if it is going to be for carry (I assume you're going to get some fat rounds for it to eat).

Holsters are a big part of carrying. I would wait on the holster, for now. Try a couple out and see how you like to carry it and how it feels on you in different positions. Lets face it, it's going to stay there 99.99% of the time so comfort and ease of draw are primary.

I would forego sights, especially night sights.

If you need to stare down sights, you're either:
A. In drastic need of range time with the pistol (in which case you shouldn't be carrying it)
B. Not in immediate danger, that you can't clear from, because the target is so far away you need to aim or you have time to do it in the first place.
C. It's so dark that you need night sights, you probably can't distinguish the target anyway.
D. At a USPSA competition and the plates aren't shooting back.

I feel that if: a person, a dog, imminent danger is close enough to warrant a threat, my natural muscle memory will be influencing the POA. Yes, the force

I've had a G30 for about 8 years.  I shoot the living shit out of it.  At 125k rounds I broke and replaced a spring.  I put a Lone Wolf barrel in it to shoot hard cast.  Some people shoot cast out of the Glock barrel but since they say don't do it, I don't do it.  Barrels are not that expensive and I don't want to lose any digits.  That's all I got for ya.  I love the gun.

Here's the thing TBR. I wanted another full size 9 for a range toy and introducing new shooters. I can't get a full size XDm in ct. They won't bring them in.  I have a full size M&P 9 already but the wife has adopted it and has plans to cerakote it silver and Tiffany blue, I can't be dragging that to the range for fun time once it looks like that.

It's a desirable model (G4 FDE) so resale won't be a problem. I got a screaming deal. So when I leave this shithole I'll sell it and buy a full size XDm 9mm.

Some experts claim just a front night sight is really all you need. But I prefer front and back sights.
In a hurry, you won't use the sights, but I think they are needed never-the-less.

SA does not make a 10 round magazine for the XDm in 9 or 40. Only the 45 has the option of 10 round mags (and that's only because the 45 shares the same magazine as the standard XD) so since you cannot get a compliant model dealers are not importing them to Konnecticut.

No shops will import them and pin the mags? Delta pinned the mags in my wife's Glock when she got it. Check with them if you have not. They may be willing to bring it in and pin the mags.

I was more joking with Typhoid than trying to persuade you one way or the other, but while we're on the subject you're not just paying for a name. The design and build quality is much better. Better machining, ergonomics, barrels, etc. You can also get very nice used one for the price of the Glock. Everyone has their favorite pistols, but I truly and objectively think the USP is a superior firearm (I own both Glock and H&K pistols).
