A few threads on this already.

There are better things to spend your money on IMO. Do more research and figure out what your looking for and willing to spend.

Yep, the Ares SCR has been beat to death here in multiple threads. While prebans are going to run more money if one looks hard enough and is patient enough they can find a deal on one where the cost will be a few hundred more than the Ares rifle. The major problem with the Ares SCR is the BCG it uses is proprietary, see picture below. And we've had numerous discussions on the legality of that rifle as under a technical reading of the law it may not be legal even though they are being sold within CT and DESPP claims "palm swell" type stocks are legal.

Not sure, but NGX had one forsale earlier this month.  Really nice and light rifle.

It would be cool to get it, SBR, cut barrel to 10-12", then pin a break on it for a can and shove my SF 60rd mag into it.

Yes. They've been reported as being for sale in several shops. Connecticut Firearms & Tactical is one shop reported to be selling them.

Consolidate then.

Quality > quantity

1 preban > 4 cheap gimpguns

Yup.  About $850

Neat gun

If rather just go preban.  But not everyone has the knowledge of interest in doing that.

I would think running a .308 out of a 16 inch carbine barrel would give it the accuracy of a flintlock musket.

Accuracy isn't really determined by barrel length.

Velocity, however, may affect accuracy.  Velocity is initially determined by barrel length.
