If this has been previously asked I apologize in advance since I could not find it anywhere. For me to travel to the rest of our country I have no choice but to travel through either CT or MA.
Am I covered by the Federal Law FOPA to bring items that have been deemed evil by CT through the state since they are legal where I am starting and where my journey will end? If there is some place you can reference that I can research this it would be appreciated. Thank you Pistola45 |

Your fine so long as you follow FOPA exactly. Do not excessively speed or do anything else to draw attention to you or your car and would cause you to get pulled over. Check to ensure all lights are working properly on your car as this is one easy way to get pulled over. Just keep in mind that if your stopped for any reason in NJ, NY, CT or MA its possible FOPA may not protect you until you get before a judge or DA. People have been arrested in places like MA and NY even through they thought they were covered by FOPA. |

Print FOPA i did that a few years ago when going to VT a lot, with about15 guns and like 4k in ammo hahah. print out all 40 pages, put in a binder, then highlight the section that applies to interstate commerce. so if a cop is questioning you it's easy to show him a stack of organized papers with the section highlighted for him. |

I'll start printing it out. Is there anything in the new CT law that specifically addresses "just passin through"? Yes. http://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_529.htm#sec_29-38d Sec. 29-38d. Interstate transportation of firearms through state. (a) The provisions of sections 29-35 and 29-38 shall not apply to the interstate transportation of firearms through this state in accordance with 18 USC 926A and 927, as amended from time to time, by any person who is not otherwise prohibited from shipping, transporting, receiving or possessing a firearm. Such person may transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where such person may lawfully possess and carry such firearm through this state to any other place where such person may lawfully possess and carry such firearm provided such transportation is in accordance with subsection (b) of this section. (b) During the transportation of a firearm through this state as authorized in subsection (a) of this section, such firearm shall be unloaded and neither such firearm nor any ammunition being transported shall be readily accessible or directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, such firearm shall be unloaded and such firearm and any ammunition being transported shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. (c) No person who is transporting a firearm through this state in accordance with this section may use or carry such firearm or sell, deliver or otherwise transfer such firearm while in this state. |
