I live in an apartment building (which gets no traffic on Halloween, thank god), but Halloween is my mom's birthday, so we congregate at my parents house, eat take out and hand out candy to trick or treaters.
This year - not one single neighborhood kid was about. Half the lights on my parent's block were off (when i was a kid they all gave out candy...). The people with lights on did not have their own kids trick or treating. My parents' neighborhood borders da 'hood. Well guess what? The FSA all drove up, parked their cars, flooding the streets, then drove from street to street. In some cases, the parents drove house by house. Kid gets out, trick or treats, runs back to car, drive 15 ft down the road, repeat. The following were common: * kids attempting to grab fistfuls from the bowl * mothers trick or treating for "the lil' babe at home" or "the one at with the flu" * donation boxes for UNICEF (yeah fuckin right that money's going to UNICEF. bullshit. I said nope sorry) * kids wont say trick or treat or thank you Candy was gone in 1 hour flat and then we turned the lights off. Well, the FSA didn't like that, so they just pounded on the door until giving up. Some cars got egged or TP'd during that time. Mine was fine, but I did catch some ghetto trolls casing it for juicy contents... I guess when you have an excuse to be "up in whitey's nay-buh-hood", you take advantage of it.
I hate Halloween. Maybe it's better where some of ya'll live and someday I will come to enjoy it. Until then, I will be scrooge. |

They be workin the numbers, home skillet. Not a fan of the holiday. And mischief night well bunch a no balled no imagination amateurs We were like Ninja guerrillas doin shit. Maybe they heard about the soup too. |

Your points 2,3&4 I will agree with you on.
But your first point I will challenge though. There kids they see a bowl full of candy and good graces and manners go out the window. If they are little kds I won't look down on them for that.Older kids should know better and I have taken candy back from older kids who try to empty the bowl.or penalize the whole group because the first kid was a pig.Hey get your candy from him,he took enough for your whole group. Kids have very little impulse control. That needs to be taught by the parents as well as the please and thank you.Sadly that is not being taught either. |

in Obamas america...halloween is just another day of entitlement But in all seriousness I guess Im lucky....I had my light on and got 2 groups total. One group had about 5 kids no older than 12, 2nd group was a mom and her 8ish yr old son from down the street. Thats it, and in my neighborhood the kids ask you what/how many they can take.... luckily they arent bussed in here for halloween.....I'm sure the liberals out here wouldnt mind that though
If I was in your situation OP and some of you other guys....I'd tape a test on my front door......ONLY knock/ring the bell if you can tell me the history behind halloween...if your answer is correct and not word for word from wikipedia, then and only then will you be allowed a piece of candy. |
