Can I assume correctly that my Colt M-16A1 now has to be registered as an AW by Jan 14?

the AWB only covers semi-automatics and select-fire. If it's fully automatic or burst only then it's not covered and doesn't need to be registered.

I had to fill out a registration card for my M11.  I don't see how an M16 could skirt by.

The law says if you have not already registered it should be turned into Toadyrock for disposal.

Select fire firearms where considered AWs under the original ban, and the identical language is in the new ban.  It is a shame, because there was an effort to remove the MGs from the AW list until Sandy Hook.

Basically, M16A1 in select fire configuration is considered an AW under the new and old bans.  Modify the lower to FA only, and it is not an AW anymore, and does not need to be registered as one.

I have an M16 conversion that I registered under the original ban.  However, with the pre-1994 language still in the law, I an sure the Olympic Arms lower it is made from is a pre-ban, and still CT legal!  Good luck getting it off the list though!
