Anyone interested in doing an 80% lower build party? I will bring any tooling necessary and will help clean up afterward.

I am interested.

I'd be interested, and i have a buddy or two that would also be.

Would this be just for ARs?  I'm working on an Ak74 and need my barrel drilled for all the pins.

Whether or not, I could easily host this.  I have a screened-in gazebo with power.

I'm very interested. I don't know much about the process. That's the only reason I haven't "pulled the trigger" on an 80% lower yet. But food, drinks, etc. I'm in.

Can I come and watch?

This is a great idea. Is getting one of those millig blocks a necessity?

Great idea and I would love to do one in the future.  I wouldn't mind coming and helping or watching.  Great way to learn when I finally do it myself.

We just need a person with a garage milling/CNC machine who is familiar with the process. I have done one with a drill press but I had another lower to take the depth measurements from. I have a drill press/milling jig but it may or may not fit another manufacturer's lower.

Im in.

I have no 80%'s, but Id like to meet people and learn this process. I went to school for machining years ago, and own a home improvement company. I can be handy to have around.

I can also bring beer.

I would love to take advantage of this, if you don't mind.

I've got two lowers that need the trigger group milled out. And I'll procrastinate forever in getting them done.

Do you have a milling/CNC machine?

Am I missing something here?

Does the date 4/4/13 mean anything or is there a key detail I'm not aware of?

If you have an 80% Lower purchased before 4/4 then you can register it by 1/1

Aren't they just a metal paper weight How would they know when you purchased them and if you get them and build it up before 1/1 you are good to go,  No ? Also advertising on an online forum of building party is not a good thing to do either

I believe you can register it as a stripped lower come 1/1

If I did, you wouldn't have to ask. I'd be pumping these things out.

I like where this is going. Maybe we need some 80% magazines too

edit: What about AR10s? I totally have an 80% that's been lying around and needs to get done!

Nope... You are not missing anything.  No one is doing themselves any favors by publicizing this on an open forum.

why would we need to be discrete?

.. if we purchased the 80% lower before 4/4 and scrolled a serial number on it as soon as we got it.

especially if we plan to register them as AWs.

..or even if they were "22lr only"

I  can stamp strings of numbers into take-off auto  parts, pieces of aluminum cutoff, uppers, buttstocks, sheets of aspen board, the shovel in my garden, etc.... The presence of a string of numbers does not make something a firearm by any definition. Unless there is an interpretation otherwise, that chunk of aluminum is not a firearm and is not yet necessarily in a state where it would even be a firearm part (ofr most purposes)
