For a CT resident who owns a second home in a free state to purchase mags and have them shipped there for the sole purpose of them to be used and stay in the free state.

I'm just checking My only worry was if I ordered mags and there is a paper trail and I'm accused of some how trying to back door them into the state. One of the elements of the crime is that you possessed the large capacity magazine within the state of Connecticut. You might find that some sellers may try to hassle you, or be afraid of selling to you because of baseless paranoia- it may be best to just use your out of state address on correspondance/payment info to the extent possible. |

They are going to have a hard enough time prosecuting mags illicitly brought into the state to worry about that. First offense is a not a felony. Unless you did something heroically criminally stupid, the state is not going to be looking at anything like this. |

If you don't have the means of making a road trip to a free state, you could always order rebuild kits from gunbroker or armslist. Even eBay has them. They cost more , but there's no legal crap to worry about until you assemble them. Rebuild kits are something out of the old federal ban, I have no knowledge of it being relevant to anywhere other than California at the moment...unless the new CT law says something somewhere about it that I haven't seen. |

A little birdie told me that if you want to get a LCM in Connecticut, and you're worried about the big online retailers not servicing you, rebuild kits are a reliable alternative. Once the finished mags are in your possession, you can register them with the state and no-one will be the wiser as to whether or not they were obtained before 4/4/2013. |
