** UPDATE **

STATE POLICE IDENTIFY WEAPONS USED IN SANDY HOOK INVESTIGATION;
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

In previous press conferences, the Connecticut State Police clearly identified all of the weapons seized from the crime scene at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

To eliminate any confusion or misinformation, we will again describe and identify the weapons seized at the school crime scene.

Seized inside the school:
#1. Bushmaster .223 caliber-- model XM15-E2S rifle with high capacity 30 round clips
#2. Glock 10 mm handgun
#3. Sig-Sauer P226   9mm handgun

Seized from suspect’s car in parking lot:
#4. Izhmash Canta-12   12 gauge Shotgun    (seized from car in parking lot)

This case remains under investigation.

He had a Canta-12?

Holy shit

P.S. I like the addition of the "30 round high capacity clips" which wasnt necessary - and its nice to see the Staties dont know the difference between clips and mags like normal

There has been video, from day one, of a shotgun in the car. The video clearly shows a shotgun shell being ejected.

That addition was for political purposes only. It pisses me off that even the state police have an agenda in a simple press release.

I don't think that this indicates an agenda.  Sorry not seeing it.  I think they just want the continuing misrepresentation of the mistakes of the media jackals during the first few confusing hours of Dec 14 to go away.

How many rounds do the glock and sig hold? Why release the magazine capacity of the rifle and not the handguns?

15 in the Glock.  And, I think it is 16 in the 226.

I see your point, but I think it was simply descriptive language used by the spokesman.  I'm just bristling due to the recent deluge of conspiracy theories regarding the shooting.

In the video, when the officer is clearing the gun over the trunk, you can see its a side-cocker, he definitely isn't pulling a charging handle. (I know, they're rare but there are side charging ARs, however . . .)  It's nighttime and the video is grainy but you can tell it doesn't really even resemble an AR. I'm fairly confident you can see wood furniture too. My initial thought when I saw the video the first time was it was an AK type.

They couldn't even do that. Saiga is the direct  latin transcription of the cyrillic characters in the Russian word  Сайга (which also translates to Saiga- an antelope like animal from central Asia). Whoever wrote the press attempted to transcribe the cyrillic characters directly using the most similar looking latin characters that they could (and didn't do a very good job at that).

I believe that there were reports that there was also a Marlin .22, which is the weapon that (according to at least one report) was used inside the Lanza home. [I have no clue how accurate that report was]

The collection does not seem inherently odd, with the exception of the 10mm Glock- both because of the gun size and the difficulty associated with handling the 10mm round. The 20/21 are bulky pistols, even for most guys and the Glock is particularly light for a 10mm. During the short time the FBI issued the 10mm, in a full size all-stainless Smith, controlability was a problem.

The rest of the guns seem to jive for somebody who has an even passing interest in tactical guns and some money to blow. Even the 10mm could be described that way- read about 10mm goodness online and buy 1, even if it isn't practical. It's like all the people who went out and bought .44 Magnums because of Dirty Harry or who buy .454 and .500 S&W revolvers for shits and giggles. And then, there are some people who have no clue what they are buying, even experienced gun people. I know somebody who said to himself "I've got a pile of guns and no shotgun...." the guy doesn't hunt or shoot clay games, but he went to his preferred shop and asked the salesman what he should buy to fill his shotgun void-- the salesman handed him an expensive rifled slug model with a high comb stock and cantilever mount- where he probably would have been best suited with a riot gun, or maybe a generic mossberg or remington pump with a 26 or 28 inch barrel and chokes, which could have done just about anything and been cheaper. (Neeedless to say, the shotgun saw 5 or so rounds, was put in a safe, sat there for a few years and the owner eventually sold it towards something he would actually use)

Of course, many of our collections would look very eclectic to outsiders, or even to ourselves sometimes, though we would have no problem grouping the guns (competition, defense, historical, hunting, plinking, etc...) or explaining WTF we bought each and every one.

Exactly. The only practical gun I see in that list for someone with a "passing interest" is the sig 9mm. The rest I think were the son's.

I also think that's why people want to rush on gun control laws - because they want to look like the son stole the mom's guns because that's a more appropriate story to push for new laws. As in - see? They were locked up safely and a mad man STILL got his hands on them! We need to restrict the guns themselves because obviously nothing else will work!

If the mom bought the kid the guns and he had the safe combo, it's a whole different ballgame where we have an enabler and possible straw purchases (depending on how you look at it legally).

Some are looking for proof to justify their conspiracy theories. Looking for proof that the police and medical examiner are, for some reason, lying. They will say the media is lying and or covering up what happened that day and use as their proof the MSNBC video from the very same media they claim are lying. <face palm>

The media FUCKS EVERYTHING UP CONSTANTLY, but some people need to cling to a single TV report from over a month ago?
They got it wrong.  We still don't know how many shots were fired, or if pistols were used, but you can bet your ass that nothing sounds more stupid than claiming the AR wasn't in the building.

THis is wrong.  This is also the forth time the 'weapons used" has been reported and the forth time that the list has been TOTALLY  DIFFERENT!  The last report listed four and only four handguns mostly in .22lr.  Before that it was said a bushmaster was used but my source, who was a first responder, said all the wounds he saw were .22 and no .223.  Then they said the bushmaser was in the car.  Then it was a shotgun in the car.

This is a lie being laid on another lie and I don't think well ever see the truth.  Sen. Kissel said the report won't be released until March but was was trying to find something more of an interim report that he might be able so share with us all.  I simply don't think the kid had a bushmaster in that school.

If you feel this information is wrong then contact the DESPP and let them know. There is an email link ([email protected]) right on the story link in my OP. What is this "last report" you speak of? Have a link to it? Is it from the State Police or ME, or from anyone involved in the investigation?

Not to doubt your friend but did he see shell casings on the floor in the school? And if so what where they?

Right now there is a lot of speculation. A lot of "I heard from a friend..." A lot of talk of some kind of conspiracy in the works that would involve hundreds (perhaps thousands) of people keeping their mouths shut to keep the conspiracy going.

Edit to add: And while I've never seen actual human entry/exit wounds from either a .22 or .223 round, from the photos on the internet they appear to be similar in size with respect to the entry wound. WARNING: The following two links go to graphic images of gunshot wounds.

The last report was the one issued about a week ago that showed four handguns.  I'm sure I can dig it out.  IT made the most sense of everything I'd been told.  My gut just said how could they be so absolutely wrong about the caliber.  They had to be stepping on brass everywhere.

Not to doubt your friend but did he see shell casings on the floor in the school? And if so what where they?

All .22lr.  Now, to be clear, this fella was an undertaker.  He was called in from our town and escorted to the school to assit with the bodies.  When I found that out, my first comment to his was , "my God, it must have been terrible to see what a .223 could do to a child.".  He responded precisely these words.  "Oh no.  There were no .223 wounds or cases that I could see, only .22 .".    This fella and I go back 25+ years.  We fished and hunted extensively here in and in Canada.  Now, is possible that he only got to see one area of the carnage?  I suppose so but he would have modified his answer to include .223 had they been present.

Right now there is a lot of speculation. A lot of "I heard from a friend..." A lot of talk of some kind of conspiracy in the works that would involve hundreds (perhaps thousands) of people keeping their mouths shut to keep the conspiracy going.

Let me be clear that I and NOT calling this a conspiricy or anything like it.  I'm calling extremly shoddy work and also conflicting statments by those who are uninformed.  For all of his self-promoting and bombast, Dr. Henry Lee would have sorted this out quickly. Survivors may really have seen a "Bushmaster"  but it does come in the .22lr flavor and would account for .22 wounds and also the identification of an "assault rifle" on the premeisis.  Heck, I don't know.  I just trust my buddy over anything that comes out of the press' mouth.  pretty straight forward the difference between the .22 brass and he .223 casings. I will wait until John Kissel is successful with his preliminar report.  Then there has to  be an inventory from the bad guy's body as well as what he shot. Hopefull it'll provde to be what has been reported to me, an average guy just wanting answers.  A .223 fired in a confired space with hard walls had to be bouncing off four or five surface before it came to rest.   a .22, however, wouldn't be so active. Thanks, too, for the gunshot wounds.  I've accutally see a .45 wound up close.  These didn't bother me.

To be fair, the link says they were "seized from the crime scene at Sandy Hook Elementary School". So it stands to reason that at least one of the firearms (Bushmaster, Glock or Sig-Sauer) seized inside the school was used to murder that day.

I call bullshit like I did at Sniper's Hide when this was brought up. I watched the SWAT team pull the AR out of the backseat of his mother's car during the day. It was on live TV. I even said to my brother "atleast the AR was in the car". Lots of shady shit going on.

That's not what I was talking about before it gets brought up. I saw in broad daylight a geared up SWAT officer remove the AR from the rear drivers side of the mothers car. That video was put out after the fact to probably throw more doubt into the issue. I know what I saw. I have been around ARs for about 27 years now and know the differerence between clearing a shotgun and an AR and I know a full AR, not just an upper, when it's pulled from a car in broad daylight.

I was watching unfold live when I was down visiting my brother in NC. Believe me I don't like this anymore than anyone else. I have never been a conspiracy theorist. I know we walked on the moon and 9/11 was the work of terrorists but when I see something with my own eyes and then I am told I didn't see it then it gives me pause, makes me think, and scares me a little. Obviously I was not the only one no saw it. It might come out eventually. Hopefully.

Obviously I was not the only one no saw it. It might come out eventually. Hopefully.

Six seconds in, it is very evident that the long gun in the trunk is a Saiga and not an AR.

For real. This.

I agree it's a shotgun in he video. Read what I wrote. That is NOT the video I was talking a out when I saw an AR taken from the car. That is the video people post when I say I saw an AR and I was just trying to nip it in the bud.

There was an AR there and it was in the car. I believe my eyes over the media.

Well then, surely there must be a video of it somewhere posted to the internet to prove that...

If such video exists I would think it would be trumpeted from the roof tops, and posted to all the gun boards (like the MSNBC video was) by those who don't believe what the police have reported.

I hope there is and it does come out. I know what I saw and no one will convince me differently.

Its not like its possible the media couldn't have reported incorrect information given the events of that day could they?

Some are looking for proof to justify their conspiracy theories. Looking for proof that the police and medical examiner are, for some reason, lying. They will say the media is lying and or covering up what happened that day and use as their proof the MSNBC video from the very same media they claim are lying. <face palm>

One thing I don't understand...LE didn't turn their attention to the car until after dark, some six or seven hours AFTER the situation was over?

Holy shit

P.S. I like the addition of the "30 round high capacity clips" which wasnt necessary - and its nice to see the Staties dont know the difference between clips and mags like normal

Really?  They made no mention of what kind of magazines clips the Sig and Glock held.

Not surprising since they had to secure the scene first, then probably had to run the plates of ALL the cars in the parking lot(s) to figure out who owned what. Plus as we saw from the video the shotgun was in the trunk. Not apparently visible through the car's windows which I assume LEO's would have glanced into as they secured the scene. Maybe they waited to get a search warrant or the like to cover the legal bases before popping the trunk.

How many rounds do the glock and sig hold? Why release the magazine capacity of the rifle and not the handguns?

they are going crazy over the rifle, because the gun grabbers didn't get much traction with the larger mags for pistols after VA tech, Aurora, Gabby Giffords, etc. But, eeeeevil assault weapons terrify the sheep. 30-round mags for them are apparently more deadly than Glock 32-round mags, I guess....

The fix wasn't in yet. They still had to get their stories straight. Never waste a good tragedy, as Rahm Emmanuel says.
