HELP!!!!!!
If I register a 37mm flare launcher as a DD....... 1. Is it legal to have in CT 2. Is it legal to attach to an AR in CT 3. If I do attach it to an AR, does it turn that AR into an AOW in the eyes of the feds or CT I've looked all over and come up short. Any help would be great. Thanks!!!!!! |

I don't think you can register it as a DD because it is a flare launcher and nothing more. They are sold as unregulated items and nothing k More. You could put it on your Ar and it would be CT legal- it would be ghey though Ghey and legal both with the Feds and ct state law. |

HELP!!!!!! If I register a 37mm flare launcher as a DD....... 1. Is it legal to have in CT YES 2. Is it legal to attach to an AR in CT YES 3. If I do attach it to an AR, does it turn that AR into an AOW in the eyes of the feds or CT NO I've looked all over and come up short. Any help would be great. Thanks!!!!!! DO IT! Details: 1. Yes it is legal, a launcher registered as a DD in CT is still simply a firearm* 2. If you launch grenades with it then it can only go on a pre-ban AR. See CT General Statutes 53-202a (3)(A)(v) 3. Once a rifle is manufactured/assembled as a rifle then by definition it can never be an AOW * Do we want to get into the argument of if the Launcher has <12" barrel then it is also a pistol? hahaha If you want to shoot any grenades or anti-personnel rounds out of the launcher then it must be registered as a DD. There have never been any 37mm grenades or anti-personnel rounds available in the USA which is why it can be sold/used as a flare launcher. Once you get your Form 1 DD back you can use adapters to shoot 12g shotgun shells and .22LR beehives, and/or you can also bore the barrel out to 40mm (or buy a separate barrel) to launch grenades and 40mm anti-personnel rounds. More info can be found here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/21_Destructive_Devices.html Form 1 on the way to do DD this launcher as a 40mm, mounted on a preban AR lower
Good luck! |

A 37mm launcher is not a DD if it is possessed with only flares and/or gas (or I guess no "ammo"). A 37mm launcher co-possessed with anti-personnel ammunition requires registration as a DD for federal purposes. |
