Anyone notice all the politicians on both sides telling us how wonderful these things are, and that they will be "just another option" in fighting crime and hazardous driving?

Are all of you ready to receive multiple monthly grainy black and white pictures of your car passing through a yellow so you don't get rear-ended?

Are all of you ready to receive multiple rate hike / policy drop letters from insurance companies every month?

Are all of you ready for the corporate and governmental profiteering that will occur while accident rates remain unchanged?

The ratio of suck to happy in this state is going to go up quite a bit with these things in place.  I'm mad as hell about it.

I do enough ranting on this forum.  It's your turn.  Are you sufficiently pissed about the prospect of these things in CT?

do they take pictures of the front or rear of the car. i don't have a plate on the front of my car or bike. also the bike plates are a lot smaller, maybe another excuse to ride it more.

For all of those times when I see some douchebag driving like an ass and wish that I had the power to pull them over (especially near the intersections) this will be good enough.

You can tell a lot by a driver when they think nobody is watching and now there will be an added incentive to slow the f*** down.

People tend to fear the ticket more than the possibility of getting in an accident or killing somebody.

Just my $0.02

Correct me if Im wrong its not a crime to go through a yellow light?
Also won't multiple picture need to be taken to prove that the light was red when your car crossed the white line
I think its B.S. just as I think troopers shouldn't  be able to drive their crusiers unless its to and from work. I get irate when I see one doing 90 on the highway with his kids in the car

My sister got a ticket for going through a yellow...and yes, it was even documented as going through a yellow light.  Prior to this, I thought it was fine to go through, and so did she - she appealed it and the judge stated that she was still at fault, but did reduce the fine.

Weird stuff

Sometimes mud and dirt accidentally obscures license plates.

Just sayin...

How about not running red/yellow lights!!!!!!
Everyday some jackass with their head embedded in their ass comes close to killing me while I am driving. I am all in favor of heavy penalties for running red/yellow lights, drunk driving, talking/texting while driving-

Yellow means stop, if you can safely do so.  If you run it, and the officer feels you could have stopped, then it is in fact a ticketable offense.

There have been numerous studies that accidents increase with red light cameras, as people  jam on the breaks as soon as the light turns yellow in order to avoid getting a ticket, and are then rear ended due to the sudden stop.

And sometimes, since you are responsible while driving, people get tickets for obscured plates.

Just sayin...

While it sounds like a good idea... and I'd love to see the red light runners in New Haven reduced. As previously stated it has been shown that Red Light Cameras increase accidents rather than reduce them.

The cameras are actually just another revenue generation route for towns and cities.

Two things.  The red light runners in new haven that are used as examples for this bill are not going to pay the fines.  No insurance, no registration, etc etc they are still driving.  These are for joe middleclass.

Secondly, there will be speed cameras too.   41 in a 35???????

I stop for lights, but I tend to travel at a reasonable speed, which the posted limit is usually not....

Ok so if we have these cameras then we can reduce the number of police then we can put speed cameras on the highways and reduce the number of troopers
