May be relocating to Bangor and would like some info. I live in Texas right now and employment may move me to Bangor Maine. I have never been to Maine so what am I to expect. I love to hunt and shoot. I do conceal and am in the market for a suppressor for some of my guns. This move will of course put a halt to the process for the time being but I do see they are NFA friendly state.
What internet providers are in Bangor? Thank you in advance for any info. |

welcome to Maine 68Snuzz. Bangor is a great place to live. You can get DSL or cable internet both of which seem to work well. we have several gun shops in the area and the Hampden rifle and pistol club is only 15 minutes away. What do you do for work? Im electronics. I worked on ground radar in the military and I am in the process of getting on with the FAA. I received a REQUEST FOR AVAILABILITY from the FAA today and the location is for Bangor Maine. Looks like Bangor international airport. I have to give them an answer by Jan 5th so I'm trying to get as much info as I can. I still have to go through the interview process but I do qualify for the position and have veteran preference with my time in the military. I will probably rent at first and then look to build or buy later on. Property values don't look to bad. |
| We have a camp about 50 miles north of Bangor. There are plenty of places to shoot & ride quads. The fishing is great. Hunting is great for birds, bears, and moose (if your lucky enough to get a permit) Deer hunting in my experience is not so great. I may also be moving to Maine soon, but not as far north as Bangor. |

Maine has no gun laws that are more restrictive than Federal.
CCW is easy - apply, no felony, no domestic violence- issued. Hunting laws - no sunday hunting, 5 rd max in semiauto, read the book. as stated, Time Warner (roadrunner) or DSL in population dense areas for Bangor. GL, Eric |

Where in Texas are you from? I just moved to Maine in September from the houston area you will love it up here. Hey Miller...I live in Bells Texas right now. We have 400 acres and the hog hunting is awesome. I know I will miss the hog hunting. We are about an 1:20 north of Dallas and about 15 min south of the OK border. What do you like about Maine compared to Texas...Pros and cons!?!? |

our gun laws are largely better than those in Texas, so no worries there. hope you are ready for some cold though...
That's good to hear about the gun laws. I know its going to be cold up there and I will have to get used to it. I'm going to put in for the position so when I get word back I will be making a trip up there to look around and check for some good places to live. Wife keeps watching the news about the snow you guys have been getting. I would think that would get her second guessing our decision but she's still for it. She lived in Alaska for 5 years so she will be ok. I was raised in Florida so this will be a drastic change for me. Thanks again for all the responses. |
