Anybody know anything about the place beyond what Google maps can tell you? Thinking about buying a place up there.

Ehhh, kinda woodsy. small town, small PD with big attitide. Very far from anything resembling a urban city. close to laconia and the speedway. Not a bad town if you drive a busted pickup and like meth.

Just moved here. I like it so far. It's an out in the middle of nowhere kind of place.

I live "near" Barnstead...I like the remoteness of the place, but I'd think after a while having to drive 40 min to get anywhere would get old. I live closer to civilization.

Yeah, it is a bit out there. But it doesn't look to be more than 20 min. or so from Laconia, Alton or Rochester.

I thought I'd dislike my hour drive to and from work everday, but oddly enough I don't. I just hate burning the gas.

True. And it's worse times 50 in an ice storm or nor'easter.
