Does anyone know of an FFL in CT that will do a purchase from Southern Ohio Gun?  I have an FFL03, but I wanted to purchase some FFL01 type stuff.   Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, if I were a shop owner, I do what I could to keep customers coming in the door and, with a smile, accomplish the transfer.  I've been in a couple of shops, however, that made it clear that they'd prefer to place the order themselves.

Just pick a shop, meet the owner, and introduce yourself and what you'd like to do.  I've ordered from SOG myself for 03 stuff but have also had a local FFL take care of 01 stuff for me.  There wasn't ever a problem.  Don't forget, however, that like Century Arms, SOG also deals with dealers directly and sells to them at a discount......which we normally see ourselves at the website.  Also know that he may be ordering stuff for his shop, too, and might be able to add what you're looking for to his supply.  Discuss the prices with him and maybe you can just let him deal with the ordering.

Know, too, that if you order it directly and it comes in broken or isn't perfect, he's out of the loop and you're the one who will have to deal with SOG.  If HE orders it for you, you'll get a chance to examine it and reject it should it not be what you thought it was.

By ordering yourself, you're eliminating that bit protection and his profit.  Still, you're a warm body in his shop and will probably buy some ammo or accessory for your new aquisition.  So, if it were me, I'd gladly do the xfer for you but as a good businessman, I'd probably offer to do the order for you at a discounted rate so that you get both a good price and the ability to reject the thing if you found it lacking.

Recently I ordered and paid for a rifle that is extremely scarce (DPMS in .308).  They are many months backlogged but I found one supplier who had 3 to sell.  I jumped on it.  But before I did I called the local FFL and got their permission to have it shipped to them.  They were listed by the supplier.  Once I had their "ok", I paid for the thing myself and the supplier shipped it to the FFL for me.  My local guy only charged me $20 to do the xfer and smiled as he did it.  I'm glad because I'm trying hard to like that shop and support it.  My alternatives are quite a long way away.
