Can a NH resident without a non-resident MA license who works in MA legally go to work with a case or two of ammo locked in the trunk of his car? The intent is to ship it via UPS in Nashua, NH after work and driving all the way home first to get it means leaving work early.

I know that it should be legal as long as it is locked in the trunk, but the issue may be that I'm going to work from NH, parking in MA for the day, and returning to NH afterward.

Yeah, the simple answer is to just put it in the trunk and not get pulled over. But with my luck some idiot would rear end me and the trunk would pop open and refuse to shut with the police right there. Or, I'd get a flat with a cruiser behind me and have to open the trunk. If it is a crime, then leaving work a little early is a much better solution.

So, what says the law? Links would be appreciated.

FOPA is about firearms, not ammo

also, you would have to be legal in your starting and ending destinations, and your work would be an ending destination

unfortunately, in mass, ammo purchasing or ownership is prohibited without a license (firearms license, for you it would be the out of state carry license)
ammo also includes empty cases and even those keychains that look like bullets

you cant do it legally without a mass firearms license

Thanks for the reply, that is what I was afraid of. I'm glad I asked first.

Leaving work early it is.
