Quoted:
AR180 NO!

AR180B Yes.

How so?

By the same logic wouldn't that mean Colt AR15 No, Colt AR15A2 Yes?  Or Colt Sporter No, Colt Sporter II Yes?

AR 180 that was made by the original Armalite company, Sterling or Howa is a preban gun it has a flashider, folding stock and I think a bayo lug. The AR 180B doesn't have any of those features.

The AR-180 is banned specifically by model

AR-180B is a totally different animal with a very similar name. It uses a plastic, lower receiver that is not the same as the Howa or Sterling versions of the original AR-180; its stock was fixed and was otherwise features compliant in the post ban world and it took AR-15/M-16 mags - which the original did not accept.

Again, the model specific ban applied and since there is no suffix, "series", "type", etc.
the "B" is good to go in CT, for now.

Past and future attempts to expand the 1993 state, AW ban are all written with language to cover any copy-cats, lookalikes or other facsimiles.

I used to have a "B" - I didn't like it. It wasn't as reliable or as accurate as an AR-15 based design. It did have a very fast rate of fire for a semi. I sent mine back to Armalite about five years ago - it had a canted gas block and shot way off point of aim.
It also jammed frequently due to gas loss.

When it came back it was better - but not 100% reliable like my other black rifles built around AR-15 designs. I traded it in toward another gun and never looked back or regretted getting rid of it.
