| I think if i was doing a private sale in CT a form must be filled out and the buyers CCW license must be called in to DPS for a approval number on the sale.. List a hangun on the EE or Gun Broker and sell it to an out of state buyer then you could ship it to the buyers FFL.. after of course you check the FFL number to make sure it is good..The fed law says it would be legal to do that. I wasn't sure if CT had something on the books that would prohibiting that type of transaction. |
if it's going out of state, federal law supercedes state law... |

Sure you can ship it to an FFL and anywhere in the country, too! Think about it this way. What if you were going to have some work done on it by that FFL's shop. You'd simply sent it to 'em (overnight of course) and they would return it to you the same way. (since you were the owner, you would NOT have to have it re-transferred to you upon completion). If you sell your pistol (and I have done this) to someone out of state, you simply have the FFL the buyer uses fax/email you a copy of his license, and you overnight the pistol directly to the address on the FFL license. The FFL there will be responsible for doing the background and all the local paperwork. Voila....done. I just did precisely that with a small pistol I sold to a guy in PA. They faxed me a copy of their license, I boxed up the locked pistol, shipped it overnight ($32! cheapest via UPS) and the FFL had it the next day, and the deal was finished. The buyer sent me the check the same day (I trusted him). Rome |
