I am thinking of coming down from Nebraska to hunt some pdogs this summer, can someone tell me how the shooting is July/August or should I look elsewhere? From what I have read, pdogs like to stay underground when it gets really hot out, is that the case in Oklahoma too?
TYIA!

I live in the Panhandle. I shoot them whenever the mood strikes.

They are pretty active in the morning and evening.

I used a scoped 22 lr. Everyone acts like you have to build a surgical rifle..... not necessary.

Most farmers out here have no problem at all with you shooting their p dogs. Just knock and ask.

I've never even seen a prairie dog in Oklahoma but then I've never been to the panhandle either, other than drive though it I mean.

So it sounds like from day break to mid day before its hot they are active, then from late afternoon to dusk when its cooling down? The location we will be in is more central OK, so that kind of concerns me that someone says they have never seen pdogs in OK. But ig if I hire an outfitter they should know where to go.

Why the fuck would you hire an outfitter? Go anywhere west of Woodward, stop at any convienince store and ask the coffee drinkers. They will tell where ya look and whose door to knock on.
