| I'm trying to nail down what kind of optic I want to use for my AR, I have an astigmatism so I ended up selling my Aimpoint. The dot was a 12 or 14 inch slash at 100 yards and I had trouble shooting accurately at even 50 yards. The 100 yard hostage target at a class I took was right out. Using the rear aperture helped round out the dot quite a bit but it simply isn't practical for me to do that 24/7. My vision isn't bad at all aside from the astigmatism so I don't have glasses and nor would I wear them just for shooting. I'm curious about the smaller ACOGs and was wondering if anyone on the HTF had one I could look through sometime. It is a lot of money to drop on an unknown item and I would hate to waste money on an optic again only to find out that it won't work for me. |

or http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1386572 My preference is the circle/ illuminated dot. You'll find different versions on the Leupold SPR and the Burris MTAC. The circle centers your eyes on the target close up and the smaller 1 MOA dot does good for 300+ meters. JMO |

JMO Thanks for the advice. I've used a friends XTR before with the circle/dot and liked it pretty well. I have exactly 0 issues with magnified optics and shooting with both eyes open even on 12X scopes. My other thing is weight, my AR weighs 6 lbs with a mag and adding an illuminated 1-4 & mount makes it 8 lbs. That makes me sad. I was really looking at the TA33-H as an all around, do it all optic.

You might look at this:
http://swfa.com/Optisan-1-4x24-Mamba-EAR30-Mount-Combo-P51887.aspx You might think it is a cheap set up but I've shot one and I like the set up a lot. And the weight with mount is just 17.4 ounces if you are concerned about weight. | Mines a TA11J-RMR 3.5x35 with the red crosshair, I like it much more than the Chevron or the donut reticle. My sister has the 4x32 with a red chevron and I like it but I prefer the crosshair over any of the others. If your in OKC, I'll let you try it and see if it works for you. |

I'll need about 8 loaded mags to go with it to get a really good idea if I like it or not!
