| Uh-oh, look who has a hankering for a new toy.... I shot a 454 once, didn't really like it. Can't remember what brand it was, maybe a Taurus? Anyway the fella had it ported. Bad porting in my opinion, it would twist my wrist when I touched it off. Actually hurt and felt like I was getting slapped in the face when it went off. |
Patrickcudd has a S&W 500 magnum if what dad told me is true. He probably got it as gift from one of his truck driving sweethearts at the truck stop. 
If you have one of the old Ruger 45 LC, you can load that up pretty hot. Dad carried one for awhile for a bear gun while we fished for trout in New Mexico. He loaded up some pretty stout loads for it. |

I've got an original Vaquero and a Blackhawk and some hot .45 Colt ammo and a .44 magnum S&W 629 and it has a decent kick but I imagine that a .454 Casull recoil would easily top those and I know a .500 S&W is beastly just from watching a guy at H&H shooting his. I've just wanted to shoot some of these big, big bore guns :)
Maybe Patrick will break it out and let me shoot it! Hey Patrick...I'll let you shoot the .50 Beowulf if you let me shoot your S&W500

Ive got an encore 30/06 pistol barrel anyone is welcome to try if they want some real recoil. That's got to pack quite a wallop. My .30-06 rifle isn't an arm breaker but it'll wake you up. Do you actually shoot it? I'm not sure I get the reasoning behind making a rifle caliber handgun. Now that the weather has cooled off we should have a little local shoot day. I'd shoot the encore but I might wear a helmet to protect the grill yo. lol We really need someone to build a private range...one of you guys with land needs to get busy!! We need about 800 yards, covered shooting benches, reactive targets, skeet/trap/sporting clay (whatever the Frick it's called) shooting area, a big grill/smoker/flattop griddle and massage recliner . Nothing too fancy.
