When I went in to work around 10 last night I smelled smoke in the air.  When I left around 8:30 this morning the smell was stronger and there was a smoke/fog haze everywhere.  I can't find anything on the internet about a fire, but the haze was thick enough to nearly white out the windmills just south of town.  There has to be a big fire going somewhere.

Anyone know?

Well I just discovered the backyard of a house down the road from me is/was on fire but that was a quarter till 9. I thought it was the apartments around the corner when I stepped outside, saw a haze cloud that looked like it was the apts. but then I went to the backyard and saw a black cloud of smoke a few blocks up. But this was a bit ago, not last night

I found it. There's a column of white smoke rising from a low area of evergreen trees just off the southwest corner of town.  I don't think there's anything worthwhile down there so it should burn out fine as long as it doesn't spread too far.  The haze between the fog and the smoke this morning was a pretty cool sight to see as I left work.

something is always burning somewhere; it's like the sounds that are always heard in the dark
