did you ever check out the vaqueros?
I was at hok this morning, those are some pretty sharp bikes, didn't think to ask, but are they all 1700s, or do make them in other displacements?, both on the showroom floor were in the $14k range. seen a 2010 vulcan classic 2000, loaded in the $13k range, if I didn't still owe funds on my tractor I'd of signed papers for it. they had three different styles of 900 vulcans too, but my next bike is going to be a traveling bike, and that classic 2000 would be just what I'm looking for. |

Oh yeah. The Vaquero is on my short list for the next ride. I rode a couple of them when I was in North Carolina a couple of months ago. All 1700s. You'd need a different seat to ride two up comfortably. MaKaw has $1250 customer cash back right now too. MSRP is $16,500. Theres a dealership up in Kansas selling them for $13000 OTD.
Like all bikes, I'd have to spend some $$$ to make it fit me. The vaquero would need extended risers, a taller shield, drivers backrest, and bigger grips. Went to Morris motorsports in Chickasha the other day. Rode a Victory Cross Country. Wow, very nice bike. $17.999 on the sticker. He said that I could get it for $16,500. Dude you can ride both there. They have a demo Vaquero too. |

damnit,
I'd like to drive one, but I'd be even more tempted to buy one then; the one I liked had hard bags, sound system, case savers, running boards and what appeared to be gps. shit I sat on the classic 2000 this morning and started recalculating my expenditures, if I didn't have the tractor payments, with a bit down I could have the bike paid off in 18 months or so, it was nice, had everything a traveling bike needs, don't know if the seat was factory or aftermarket, but it was pretty comforable compared to the seat on my bike, fuckmefunny I can only make about 80 miles and my legs start getting numb, got to stop and walk around a bit, the chick that's been riding with me off/on this summer is good for about 50 miles max, then she starts shifting around, almost bought a "mustang" seat for it a month or so back, but I rode a bike with one, the Goddamned seat sits you way forward, my sack was sitting on the gas tank, it weren't none too comfortable hitting bumps, the seat was cool, the gas tank wasn't, couldn't see dumping near 5 bills for a seat I wouldn't keep on the bike for long. hell I say I'm going to get another bike one of these days, but shit I'm going to have to get a better paying job first, or at least pay off either my house or tractor and stop buying ammo for a couple of years. |

I've had a mustang on two different bikes. They moved me up and forward on both. I have an ultimate seat with drivers backrest on my Nomad. It kept me in the factory position. I had another seat done by Mean City Cycles. They rework a stock seat, and can change your position by an inch or two in height and forward or back.
How in the hell you ride 2 up on that 900 is beyond me. Hard bags are the only way to go man. |

Hard bags are the only way to go man. +1 we put hard bags with locks on all ours... It's perfect for de-gunning when on campus, and doesn't sag like crazy I had the same problem on my VTX1300 with the Mustang seat pushing me up to where my pant legs were wearing on the clear coat of the tank. Dad's VTX1800 doesn't have that prob since it's a bit more stretched out. But backrests are a must-have for me anymore. I keep effing my back up picking stupid heavy junk up like I shouldn't

| I've rode a couple with backrests, they aren't for me, I get too Goddamned comfortable and stop paying attention, besides when it isn't too hot out, you just lay back into the chick and get an excellent back rest, but a summer like this, meh....you just make do, too fucking hot out to lean back no matter how soft they are. |

That's why you need a bigger bike I'm holding out to see if they continue to come down in price as we get closer to winter. I was in Lawton motorsports the other day and they seemed desperate to sell me a new bike. As a matter of fact I'll be there again tomorrow, they are having a "open house", with "great specials, discounts and giveaways"

hell I'd buy a new bigger bike if I had the funds, right now my fun fund is in the red, got to get it flush before buying something I want. |
