We had a Fridgidare heavy duty stackable at the Drumright base and it worked very well.  It was crammed in a small closet with about a foot clearance on one side.  It was fairly easy to load and remove clothes from it.

I got that high speed washer/dryer from electrolux and stacked them. They work great. They even come with a drawer set up to stow soap and stuff.

samsung, wouldnt have gone with any other . . . . just about any front load units have a stacking kit available for $20-$40
