Anybody been there and got stuff to do your own holsters?
Besides Chuck, that is. I know he's getting into doing leather work. |

I went over a little bit after noon and got a few things.
They have holster making class in the morning 10 AM to 12 AM so I signed up. It's only $25 so I'm going to give it a go. I might learn something!!!!
I've got some ideas for some belt holsters that are somewhat unique and this might help me bring them to fruition. |

hell of a class for $25, about 14hrs worth if the goesinta's are rightOK, 10 AM to 12 PM. It's gonna be worth the money just so I get the nonclementure right. I did some of this when I was in my preteens but it all looked like crap and I can't remember jack crap 45 years later. I think I told you about that Indian gal I dated (not the one I married) whose mom did bead work and leather work. She made some really fancy moccasins that were high dollar. She introduced me to Will Sampson, her customer, at a pow wow once. As far as the leather work, I'm wanting to make some angled, near horizontal belt holsters for my j frames and a chest pack holster for a K frame. I'll let you take a look at them Brother L and give me some suggestions. |

I bought a cowhide and some tools there, I've made a few holsters for personal use, never had any complaints. There's a fairly hard press for you to join their club, and if you are actively buying it will pay for itself with discounts. You are certainly right about the "join" the club. But I did learn quite a bit and it will definitely come in handy. |

I decided to look around the net for some info, ran onto these videos, a 3 part video, the guy does a really nice job. Holster making parts 1, 2 and 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjr72-ANHq0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEGaYnFMUGQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dls0_d5SqNE |

Buy the good rotary punch. Don't cheap out on the POS one. You'll thank me for that. If you are going to do a lot of stitching, doing it by hand will make you cry like a little girl.
Remember that poking a hole in the leather doesn't remove any of the leather. I'll leave it to you to figure out the importance of that statement.

And if I have to put a hole in leather, I'll use a very sharp drill bit on a drill press. If you find a leather sewing machine that is broke, let me know. I'll fix it.
