CCW Rally on the State Capital Steps?

How many of you would show up carrying signs, wearing gun rights T-shirts, etc to influence the vote on the SDA provisions in our favor?
It's easy to obtain a permit from the state to have such a rally. You have to schedule it though.
If anybody is interested and would show up, put your name up here.
I'll ramrod but I ain't gonna be the only one there holding a sign!!!!!!

Depends on the day. Most of us have to work. We all don't live the easy life of a retired gentleman.

Actually, it would be worth taking a days leave for this.

Most of you all would turn people against us if your mugs showed up on the steps!!!

Maybe I should go up there alone!

Here's the thing Chuck, you gotta make sacrifices if you want to keep your rights. Because so many of our voters don't go to the problem of expressing their positions to legislators, we get crap shoved down our throats we don't want.
Like Sen Russell said, he was accosted by FIVE STATE EMPLOYEES from Moore-Norman CareerTech telling him that they didn't want guns locked up in cars in the parking lot. They were drawing a state salary and were demanding that their "employers" - the taxpayers should be made felons by carrying onto a CareerTech campus even when they carry guns legally for self defense in many other places.
I didn't know those state employees dictated to the citizens of this state or that they owned that CareerTech campus.
Personally, I'd like to see those jerks fired.
Four of them anyway.
And you wonder why we get shit shoved down our throats?
YOU AND I AND THE OTHER VOTERS ARE THE HMFs IN THIS STATE - NOT ELECTED OFFICIALS.
They need to be reminded of it.

I'd do it on the right day.  I am a CCW license holder.  During the week is out.  It would be good to get to meet you all.

If you shoot yourself in the leg with your Glock on the state capital steps, you are on your own.

I have a fairly open schedule,  but as a 1911 enthusiast,  I would have to decline if I knew there would a glock present.

Gotta draw the line somewhere, right?

Better check the laws on whether the steps constitutes the capitol itself because you can't carry in the capitol. That would suck to have a rally to support the CCL laws and then lose yours. Capitol police would know the answer. Steve

You definitely can't carry onto the Capital steps. You'll have to leave your concealed carries in the car.
The HP checked us for our rally permit when my retiree's group had a rally at the Capital a few years ago.
So LE will be checking us if we do this. Especially if we are having a rally for anything to do with the SDA.
And with some of the shady looking members we have (I'm not going to mention Chuck!), we probably would get checked.
Being spread eagled on the capital steps is not something I want to happen!

CCW Rally , who is going ?

I'll call tomorrow and see if I can get a date in the next couple of weeks. We need at least a couple of dozen. I'll hang up a notice at the gun shops in OKC and see if we can get some support that way. But I'm going to have to see quite a few here commit before I actually schedule it.
I'll call the NRA and see if they will give us some support in some form or fashion.

Dan- I'll take a day of leave and make it for sure. As long as its not a Thursday. Wife has Chemo on Thursday afternoons.

Are there going to be repressive dress codes? Or will Sam be okay showing up looking like a pirate?

We'll have to identify ourselves in some form or fashion. I'm thinking if everyone that came wore a fluorescent orange vest on the steps at the rally, it would get attention. Then everyone should go into the state capital and start hitting up legislators in the aisles.
The more the merrier.

Here's a calendar that shows all the rallies. We will meet on the South Plaza, work ourselves into a frenzy, then go visit the legislators. http://www.ok.gov/triton/modules/calendar/calendar.php?calendar_seq=26
One thing they are afraid of more than anything - motivated and informed voters who become politically active.
Sheeple they love, hard headed voters they hate.
Seriously, if we want to have an effect, we are going to have to tell these people how we feel. We're going to have to over come the OSBI's position against it, even if it does cut their finances.

March 3, 2010?
9 AM to 11 AM?
Then proceed into the capitol building to meet with our employees - the state legislators?
Fluorescent orange hats or vests to identify ourselves?

The NRA lobbyist in the state is going to give us a hand. I'm waiting for her to call me.
More to follow later.

I can do 3 March. I'll need to know for sure in the next couple of days so I can take leave before I'm covered up with meetings

I've got a few orange vests. I'm sure the other hunters on this board have extras too. But hey, they only cost a few dollars at Wallyworld.

Dan-I'm a life member in the NRA. Might want to take a head count of members to kinda prod the NRA rep with.

I've spent a lot of time talking to some "insiders" I know about which direction to go with this.
I got my chain yanked pretty hard.
If you get too militant and take full advantage of your rights to free speech, you'll get doors closed to you permanently.
It's not whether you're right or wrong, it may simply depend on what those "in power" think about you and your issue.
That is simply the way it is.
I need a head count of who will or won't come to a rally.
It can't be on a Saturday or Sunday. It needs to be done on a week day when the legislature is present.
To get the lifetime provision out of the committee, we'll have to do it soon.

If the gov't doesn't realize so many Americans are becoming so alienated with how the gov't works and treats it's citizens, they are either blinder than bats or don't give a damn about the average citizen.
The guy who flew his plane into the IRS building in Austin was pissed off enough to give his life to strike back.
If people like him get organized, there is going to be another Revolution.

Dan,

Better check on when the committee deadline is. I think March 3rd will be too late. The house staff will know. Seems like it may be this week or next but I don't know. Our deadline in the senate is already passed. Steve

It's probably already too late. I had the same thing happen last year with Sen Lamb on another issue.
And he hasn't responded to my calls or emails recently since he got my request so wrong in this session.
Rep Tibbs is not returning my phone calls or responding to a request for a meeting.
If we have a rally, it's probably not going to do any good in this legislative session
But it might help in the next legislative effort.

We have enough Vets on here we could run an op. Maybe a cordon and search, with a list of HVTs? Water boarding would be an option

You want to do the opord Steve? I probably have a few at work that we could "tweak".

Dan- I say we go ahead and do something anyway. Lets go on over and see how long it takes my head to explode

I'm fucking furious with my state Senator after almost two years of promises on another issue.
I'm extremely unhappy that I was promised a return phone call from a state representative and I know I won't get it.
I got the same crap from our Inhofe and Coburn with a PAC that represented 3800 people in Oklahoma.
Only one Congressman really responded in an honest fashion.
And he was  Democrat.
Being nice and being persistent will just get you ignored.
Being shitty and forceful will get you ignored.
It depends on who you are and how much money you have as to how much influence you have with elected officials.
Maybe we can do some good.
I'm willing to try. I'll be nice too.
Who else wants to try knocking a hole in that huge outhouse we call a State Capitol?

Man, I wish I had seen this sooner, I would have taken pto for this instead of my doctor visit. Is there an "indirect" way I can help support y'all? I've already joined the NRA, been there, done that. Guess ill keep an eye on the news and here to find out how it went.

Too little support, too late to really get underway.
I'm supposed to meet with the NRA volunteer coordinator soon.
One committee chairman is going to get a few contacts over the next year from places she would never expect. I"m going to make that my personal mission.
We're going to have define our mission, plan ahead, develop the tactics with what resources we have, then begin to see what changes we can make.
But veryfew here on this board have voiced support.
I've already been neck deep in legislative BS for a few years. So I've got reason to bitch. The rest of you need to get involved because there is strength in numbers.
Patrickcudd has two young boys. He's going to help if he can for their sake.
If you want to leave a strong 2A inheritance for your children and grandchildren here in Oklahoma, you'll need to get involved.
The rally on the capital has died due to lack of interest here.
Too short a notice, not an important enough issue to some I guess.
If you have issues you would like to see change here in Oklahoma concerning firearms, get on board and tell us about it.
