Well looks like Danc46 got the old ban hammer!
From what he said, he was being his usual self, and someone got pissy. We all know where it originated.....I won't say, lest I get teh ban. It's a shame...an active, opinated memeber that goes out of his way to help others gets banned over bullshit! Let's not forget he took an unknown (to us) member of this site from another state out to a private range while the guy was in town. He is the kind of guy that makes arfcom a good place. But he's here no more do to thin skinned little girls!

WOW.....two of the biggest site staff, whom I respect, pop off in just over an hour.........I guess he who must no be named keeps pretty tight tabs on th OKHTF waiting to tattle.
With that said, Dan will be missed.....while opinionated and pulling off bad jokes, he was a true asset to the ARFCOM world! He ruffled some feathers to be sure, but he would help anyone at anytime! I've seen some of the threads he got in trouble over, he simply had the least popular point of view and defended it strongly. He called people names, only after he was called worse! But politics rule, even on this site. I've had my hand slapped here, and I had to stop what I was doing, even though I was in the right. But that's life, I guess. |

he may be a barrel of monkeys in person, but he's a rock head on the internet. he has been warned again and again, and starts up over and over again. I don't think he ever had any intention of knocking off the confrontational trolling, he was going to keep it up until we finally got fed up and booted him.You could warn him and take away his posting priviledges in the ar ammo forum for doing something, and 10 minutes later he would be doing the same thing in the handgun ammo forum, there was just no stopping him or reasoning with him. Fran kly we waste WAY too much time warning and trying to get people to behave who just aren't going to. I just looked at someone else's list over something he posted in GD. 9 warnings and a couple of locks over two years, always for the same stuff and a bunch of the locks were "well this is the last time" too 5% of the people here cause 50% of the problems over and over |

| If you wanna settle Dan down make him a Moderator.....Then he could ban the little trolls that to run and tattle in order to start shit all the time. OR better yet, just ban the little trolls and we could get on with things as usual. Dan's a good guy, and he can rub people the wrong way on occasion, but who can say they are not the same at times? |

Dan emailed me some of the details.
I've been called "an insane idiot" by Zhukov several times. I called him a smart ass prick a few times and got locked for that. After I'd been banned in one forum I've never posted in and another only seldom.
Zhukov is a moderator for both. Garand_Shooter has called me "union scum", "union lowlife", union dirt bag. etc. No response when I reported him. He's a moderator. I got an account warning for "trolling" in the survival forum. One guy called me a big mouthed mother fucker. I stayed nice but he and the moderator didn't agree with me. I got suspended by one of the cop moderators/administrators for saying "you must be dumb as a rock". This last lock came because some guy said "you suffer from paranoid delusions" and "you have voices in your head. He reported me after I called him a EWE a couple of times. DK-prof sent me a warning, Northcal_LEO locked my account "indefinitely". I know I tried to log on yesterday morning early and it came back Account Denied or some such crap. I don't even care to try logging on. I've been the discussion on the moderator forum several times and I've been told our old buddy ripped my ass a new one. I'm pegged as a cop basher because I hate the no knock warrants and the SWAT shit so many of the wannabe bad boy cops aspire too. I've been vocal about it. They don't like it. And looks like they made sure I'll never do it again or just got even. Sounds like the mods that are involved are chips off the Obama rock, doing what they want with their double standards. Most likely I'll get locked for posting this. C'est la vie. Some people can dish it out but can't take it. Guess that is how you become a mod. |

I don't know Dan personally but when I first came to this okhtf or whatever he was real friendly and welcoming towards me. And when I got pissy about the coyote pup deal he was the only one to PM me apologizing and telling me not to take things personal. That to me says a lot about a guy I've never met. Dan is one of a very few people that I consider a friend. Hell, he drove a hour and a half down here to help me wire my new reloading shop when he barely knew me. He has been an asset to the OKHTF. We have been more than a group on the internet. We regularly have get togethers, mostly started by Dan. He has helped out many members, without asking for anything in return. He is one of those rare guys that would give you the shirt off his back. Dan suffers from something that I struggle with too. That is knowing when to shut up. I seem to be a lot better at controlling this than he does though.
Dan likes to argue. He is also retired, which gives him more time to do it
He generally thinks that he is always right. Add this to the statement above and...........
He says what he thinks. Which is not always the smartest thing to do. I know this from experience too

I mean, it's really not up to "us" whether or not someone should be banned....last I checked the staff didn't throw it up for popular vote. I'm simply pointing out that those things aren't done by committe or consensus of the general membership. Why is it that we are not supposed to be able to trust the judgement of the site staff or mods? I mean, they write and enforce the rules and the way I see it...according to the numbers...they gave the guy a lot of slack for the same stuff over and over. ...and now people are demanding that they get to decide for themselves? Well hell...what is the point of having rules or moderators anyway if the place is going to be run by a small group of friends in the HTF? Dan is one of a very few people that I consider a friend. Hell, he drove a hour and a half down here to help me wire my new reloading shop when he barely knew me. He has been an asset to the OKHTF. We have been more than a group on the internet. We regularly have get togethers, mostly started by Dan. He has helped out many members, without asking for anything in return. He is one of those rare guys that would give you the shirt off his back. Dan suffers from something that I struggle with too. That is knowing when to shut up. I seem to be a lot better at controlling this than he does though.
Dan likes to argue. He is also retired, which gives him more time to do it
He generally thinks that he is always right. Add this to the statement above and...........
He says what he thinks. Which is not always the smartest thing to do. I know this from experience too
I would like to see him be able to remain on the HTF anyway. I dont think that any of our members here would disagree, except for our troll, that is. I agree Chuck.....Dan helped me assemble my AK pistol when I barely knew him. He will always help anyone that asks. He's the type that does indeed know alot and shares that information to a fault. It is a damn shame that thin skined people don't know how to listen and instead get their feathers ruffled and stat crying, bitching and tattling......and then you know what they say....the squeaky wheel gets the grease! |
