I just had a great transaction with Martin of MAS-Gunworks. He is selling lowers at a PRIMO price right now. If you have never done business with him I highly recommend it. He has a booth at the Claude Hall show this weekend if you are interested. Good guy, Great Service and quick transaction start to finish. Just thought I would share that with you's. |

does he only do shows or does he have a store? He has a website. Just do a search for the name MAS Gunworks. In fact: www.masgunworks.com |

MODS: I am not advertising for the guy. I am just making the brothers here aware that he is out there, and providing a link for someone who asked. Hell, we know that. Just like none of us advertise for Josh at Alpha Omega Tactical http://www.aotactical.com/ or Bill at Stover Arms. Josh can build you the best AR you could possibly want and Bill can get you any Class III stuff you might be interested in. We are lucky to have members here like Mark, Josh, and Bill. |

I tried to transfer a gun through MAS and was very unsuccessful in my attempt. I emailed him through his website and never heard back. After a day or two of no response and verifying he never sent his FFL info to Stacey Blankenship, I called him to see if he had received my email and talk with him directly about the transfer. After first he doubted my intentions cause my cell phone is still an Arkansas number and asked questions about if he was going to be shipping it somewhere else. I told him I moved to Yukon and would be picking the purchase up directly and can provide a OK DL. He said that was fine with him so I resent Stacey's info to the email address he confirmed. Never did get any help on the transfer and Stacey said he never received an email either. To this day, I have never heard back from any of the emails or the phone call. I can only assume Stacey never did receive anything either. Not sure why I seemed to have an experience far from what others have had but I will not attempt to deal with him again.
After the failed attempt above, I tried Bill Stover and he was awesome. Fast response, friendly, and got in touch with Stacey and gave him his FFL info very fast. When I went to do the paperwork, both Bill and his wife were very friendly and I chatted with them for a little bit. I will definitely use BIll again and recommend him to anyone in Yukon area. Besides being nice, the man has a 20mm Lahti rifle!!! |

Well... I am sorry your experience was not a good one. Maybe you should try again? I just went back and bought an LPK from them for way less than everyone else at the gun show was charging TODAY. My knowledge of them and their services is all positive so far. Mike it only takes getting burned once to learn a lesson here. I can relate to his experience more than you know. Only difference is my was face to face at the Tulsa show last year. Guess what, there was no one around at the time either. Guess I just look to young to know anything about AR's or suppressors . . . . . . There are to many good dealers in the metro area that I would rather keep in business. Also to bring to your attention. Out of the number of posters in this thread who have either done business with them or tried and failed its an even 50/50 split for good and bad. Thats not a very good margin IMHO. As always YMMV. Maybe we were just a fluke. If you look at Botach and Sarco in the same light as MAS then you can note several similarities between them. 1. Lower prices than most others 2. Hard to get ahold of, wont return calls or emails, not friendly or apologetic when confronted about it even when they admit to error on their part. Some times business sacrifice customer service for lower prices to gain the edge and figure they are doing you a favor already because of the low price, so they dont have to bother with other things. Normally those business dont do so well in the long run. Other business may charge a little more but have awesome customer service. Even with the higher prices they are building a customer base that can't be bought with discount prices. I am not saying their prices are great. They are in the current market we are seeing. Not everyone is going to have a good experience with every business out there. However, all feedback should be taken into account. |

Funny coming across this subject today. I just concluded a less than stellar dealing with Martin (MASGunworks) today, I have had 2 other dealings with Martin that went really smooth, And as a person he seems to be a really nice guy. But they both related to parts/guns he already had and was selling.
I had contacted Martin on 4/08/09 to start a FFL to FFL transfer on a rifle I had purchased from out of state. As we all know this is a fairly simple task, The receiving FFL faxes or emails his paperwork to the sending FFL, Then the sending FFL ships the gun to the receiving FFL. Right? Simple? Not so much.. Turns out this simple task turned into an 10 day ordeal. The sending FFL, The seller, And I all had to repeatedly contact Martin to get him to send his paperwork. All the while the sending FFL and the seller are calling me wanting to know why he hadn't sent the info. On 4/13/09 Martin finally faxes his info to the sending FFL. The Sending FFL sends Martin and I the tracking info on the shipment that day. On 4/15/09 I am informed by both the seller and sending FFL the gun is at the UPS hub waiting to be picked up. Great I should be hearing from martin soon, I get a msg to Martin with my cell # and let him know I am available any day after 4:00pm to pick this up from him. On 4/16/09 Martin picks up the package at the UPS hub, Knowing Martin will be busy working the gun show I contact him again letting him know I am available to pickup the package, He replies back that he will be home most all day on 4/17/09, Great, I reply back that I will be by approx 4:15pm to 4:30pm Friday. After work Friday (4:00pm) I call Martins cell, No answer, I left a voice mail to get a hold of me and I will come right up to meet him. No response at all from him. So at approx 8:45pm Friday I call again, This time to my surprise he answers, And tells me he "might" be able do it later that night, But he was unsure what time as it was his wife's birthday, And they are out.. Okay I'm down with it being the wife's birthday and know what would happen in my house if I took off on my wife's BD to make a gun deal (it had better be for her if you know what I mean) Then brings up the option of picking it up at the gun show, Well I really had not planned on going as its a C.H show and they are pretty lacking in deals. But by this time I am really willing to meet pretty much anytime, anywhere to pick it up.... Okay so this morning (now we are on day 10) I figure I might want to call before going to the gun show to make double sure he has my gun with him. Again I get voice mail. No return call.. Head on up to the gun show anyways, Track down Martin let him know I am ready to fill out the 4473 and get this finished.. Martin says "hmmm wonder where I put that? did I bring it?" After looking around a bit it turns out it was under one of his tables, I got the gun finally.... But no "I'm sorry it took so long", Nothing.. But from now on any future out of state transfers will be handled by someone else. As during this 10 day transfer I had 3 other out of state transfers done by another FFL. And it took a total of 4 days per transfer.. That's someone that wants my future business... |

I guess if someone wishes to use them they now several different opinions to base their decision upon. I hate that you all did not have good experiences with them. Hopefully future transactions with someone else will go better for you. |

So I'll have to post my +1 to Martin at MAS. I've had 4 or 5 dealings with him, all were me buying something from him They were all smooth and painless.
And get off Botach, SARCO, and Blackthorne dammit You know us cheap guys like them

This scenario was exactly what ran through my head and why I decided not to try and contact MAS anymore. If getting in contact personally and still not getting any customer service is how the transaction starts then what could I possibly expect from the rest of it. I was not going to have my new Accuracy International rifle sitting at someone's house/shop waiting on me to pick it up and not be able to get in contact with them or have my call returned. I might not bring a lot of transactions to someone but the ones I do are usually pretty high dollar. I will stick to either Major Malfunctions or Stover Arms since I have received customer service from the beginning with both of these shops.

Sorry if you had a bad experience. It wasn't intentional. It has been a big learning experience and we are still learning. I don't need to make any excuses and won't. If you want to do business with us great we really appreciate it. If you don't then by all means find another dealer and thanks for the consideration.
Fister I guess I don't remember your incident. Remind me sometime. Why post something and not say what it is? |

Each case has its own circumstances, and I am sure there are two sides to every story. I do know when being a FFL, and conducting transfers there are many things that can go wrong, that can easily be blamed on the wrong person., or just be a mere misunderstanding or miscommunication, of details. For a legal transfer to happen several things have to be in place: Written and verbal communication between the buyer, seller, and FFL, with phone numbers, e-mail address, and shipping addresses. The seller must have a copy of the buyers FFL, and funds. The FFL must be notified when the shipment will arrive so that he will be expecting the package. The Seller must ship the weapon in a timely manner. The FFL must log the weapon in his log book, contact the buyer, have him fill out the form 4473, and pass the NICs check and pay the transfer fee if any. In most instances a transfer goes very smoothly, but sometimes there are problems if there is a snag in the process above, and it can be from the person on the other end. I know and have done business with Martin and Matt, from what I have observed they follow ATF procedure. If there was a problem, possibly it could have been a problem not on their end. They should be asked first privately before ripping them apart here. That is just my opinion for what it is worth. But heck who am I? I am just lucky to be here. MF |

An LPK and a Few pins, springs, firing, and so forth. If I had known Mark had the kit at the time I would have bought it AND the LPK from Martin. |

Thanks Brother. I am actually GTG on parts but I wanted an extra for the parts bin just in case. If I end up in a jam before I find one I'll holler at you. You are a good guy....regradless of what Dan says about you. |
They were all smooth and painless.
