Anybody have any experience or preference on the shooting benches below?

I built this and the plans were exact. He says it cost $120 in 2005, I built it 3 weeks ago and  it costs me $121. It is as sturdy as they get. Mine is permanently cemented in the ground, but it is easily portable if you have a friend to help move it.

I'm looking for a fairly portable one man carry unit. The one I've been using is very portable but a little too big. It looks something like this:

It has it's obvious drawbacks. And I can't use it in someplaces I want to go.
Thanks for that link.

The one on the bottom is probably a swivel, the table and seat rotate around the center, for prairie dog hunting that's far superior to the others.  For sitting in one spot always shooting at one spot, like a target its not so important.

I got an email from Natchez today, they have about 6 different ones on sale.

Oh, and for the record, I prefer to use the dead bodies of my foes

Like Clint in Gran Torino "We used to stack fuck$ like you up five feet high and use them for sandbags"

I modified an old style school desk/seat combo for a pd shoot once, it bolted down to the bed of my truck, and was pretty damn stable, cost less than $10 bucks.

well don`t know if this makes any difference to you but,I have used quite a few benches Pdogging over the years and I find that most benches are very very uncomfortable, because they don`t have a Adjustable seat, the adjustable seat is what makes the difference between one that you will use and one that collects dust, some of those bench seats aren`t much better than sitting on a brick.

I've got an old office chair I may use in building one. The only thing is I'll have to go buy a mig welder to build it.
I think it may be too heavy to carry easily so I may put wheels on it like a dolly to move.
twister, I tried some at Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday.
You're right, they are damned uncomfortable.

Don't buy one you big dummy. I have one that you are more than welcome to use.

Oh, I've got several I could borrow. Thanks anyway, Chuck.
I've got some stuff I need to do on my property that would justify the purchase of a mig welder and keeping one around.

Ok then. I'm well aware of the scheme of using work around the place to justify the purchase of new tools/toys. Well played Dan.

what I finally used for years was a old Piano bench and a card table....
wasted LOTS of time and money on shooting benches, let me look around, I think I still have the plans on a lightweight tripod rifle rest thingie that works great with a good old lawn chair.

I used to have the plans on my Harddrive, but from what I remember it was based on the DPGunrest by dennis potvin,I go have a look in my storage boxes in a couple of days, but I think I might have to make up a new gunrest.
