For taking the time to share your wisdom of personal defense ammunition with the rest of us.

There is no wisdom there. I like the gun, it runs well on FMJ, and I haven't had the time to go buy 75 boxes of different brands of ammo to see what it shoots(and won't). It's a Springfield GI, so I suspect it won't feed hollowpoints all that well. The wife's .38 Super on the other hand, is loaded up with 125 grain Cor Bon.

I'm kinda fond of the 1911 platform too. Funny thing is that the two that are currently loaded and ready to go are loaded with FMJ too. I don't see that as a problem

You guys have been around long enough to know what's the best options for self defense ammo are, so I don't think we need to go into all that. It's your pistols, use what you want.

I guess I'm just old fashioned. I don't keep or carry a pistol for defense unless it will shoot anything I feed it. I have a few range toys, but the go to guns are kept loaded with the best defensive rounds I can afford.

Nothing wrong with feeding one of John Moses Browning's masterpieces  the ammunition it was designed to be fed.

Mine aren't picky or finicky. I do happen to own a few boxes of self defense ammo. Its just that when I have to pop a damn armadillo(3 just this month), I'd rather use the cheaper FMJ for it. Kinda funny now that I think about it. My 1911s are Kimbers, which are far from cheap, yet I choose to use practically the cheapest ammo in them Well, no wolf anyway

My Springfield eat up all the HP I feed it, you just need to shoot you 1911 in had the same problem at first just needed a few boxs of good ammo just keep the (p) for home
