Huh, thats funny. I can go to Wichita Falls and the Market Hall shows and buy all the long guns I want-no FFL.

Doesn't matter if you're an OK resident or not. We can buy and sell LONG guns with our southern (Texas) neighbors with out going through an FFL.

That is unless you just want to make the deal go through an FFL

I have heard that but can you provide a link. I never could find one that said it was ok. All I have ever found is the FFL stuff.

I'm pretty sure you are wrong about this.  A FTF transfer has to be done w/ residents of the same state, both long gun and pistol.  An FFL can sell a long gun to a bordering state, but not a handgun.

Well now, since this is in question lets just say that I know a guy (OK resident)that has purchased more than 1 long gun at the Market Hall show. At least one from someone walking around and more than one from someone that had a table there. He has since lost them in a tragic boating accident on Lake Texoma.

That may be however it does not make it legal.

If I understand the question, yes you can purchase in person while in another state,  you just can't ship to another state. Unless it is a C&R and you are licensed for it.

I have purchased a few long arms while in Texas without any problem with the dealer doing a nics.

OK

Lets see some ATF links supporting this then? I would really like to know seeings how I have been told twice now that they were unable to do business with me because I am a Texan by ID,

Fister I'd really like to help a brother out here. But my friend was under the impression that you could purchase a long gun in Tx with no issue. Since he did it himself, and from vendors who may or may not have been FFL holders. No calls were made, nor was any paperwork filled out. It may have been ignorance on the part of all parties involved .

I myself remember having to use my C&R one time when I purchased a long gun from Military Gun Supply at a show there. So I honestly do not know which way is the "legal" way.

Its just a damned shame that we are even having this discussion is all. To truly free men it shouldn't matter where you live!

I agree with you 110% Why should it matter where you are from. The background check that is run is a Federal one last time I checked right? Then why the hell should it matter if you can legally own and purchase firearms where and when you do it, I must admit I have been really bummed out with shopping up here as I can't by shit. That is the #1 reason I am going to get my info changed over even though I am a dual resident and will be living in TX most of the time. Guess there is really no way around it unless I just do all my buying in TX and drive 3 hours back to TX to do it.

I agree too!  I'm just pretty sure I'm correct on this.  I'd like to be wrong....it may involve shipping, I'm not for certain.  I'll try to look it up to be sure.

I purchased a Mini-14 from Basspro in Grapevine back in the late 90s, and a Henry lever 22 mag from Basspro in Nashville TN both useing my OK drivers license for ID. I was told any long gun to out of staters but no handguns.

Yup....through an FFL is okay.  We are talking about face-to-face transfers among non-FFL holders.
