I know I'm out of my neighborhood, but I hope you folks can help me out.
I have heard that somewhere in Oklahoma, there is a rock quarry, or a mine, where you can go pick out your own geodes (cool rocks, can be found at the nature store at the mall for a princely sum..). Have any of you heard of this? any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

Heck if you want to pick up rocks, stop by the house, you can pick up all the dang rocks you want, grass will not grow, rocks grow well.

I'm pretty sure you can't remove any rocks from quartz mountain state park; but there is farmland all around there that most times if you ask the owner, they will let you surface hunt.  we used to go all the time looking for arrowheads and stuff.

great salt plains used to allow you to "harvest" crystals (or geodes)
i haven't been there in years(decades actually) so things might have changed

Thanks for the ideas. It sounded like a good Idea to take the wife and kids to go looking for some cool rocks, with the odds of success tipped generously in your favor!

hell man, you could always take the family over to murphysboro Ark. to dig for diamonds at the mine, used to cost like $2/person to get in, probably more nowdays, but you get to keep what you find.
