Ndenway made a comment about a video cam which got me to thinking. Anybody have any experience with DVR cams?
And what type is the best at the "mid-range costs" - $300 to $400?
Thanks,
Dan

man I don't know about the digital ones, but I bought two of the sony handycam HI-8s steady shots model CCD-TRV328 NTSC eariler this year at the west side walmart in norman, they were normaly like $350, but they had them marked down to $150 for the display and $165 for the one in the box, can't say as to how they'd hold up in the field, their small,  got a 20x zoom lens and feature 990x digital zoom, picture quality is good, much better than my old samsung vhs model.

I'm thinking of getting a decent 4 meg. or higher camera in the $250 range, but I'm kinda undecided as to which brand, I use a 6meg HP at work but it cost something like 5 bills, and I bought my mom a cheap one,  the pic quality isn't that great but I half way expected that, my sisters got one of the kodak zoom ones in my price range but its cpu suffered a melt down when I was trying to upload my AK tutorial earlier this summer, kodak replaced it free but I don't want something I don't trust, ya'll got any thoughts?

If  you find a sony thats in your price range and that's what I'd recomend...........

I have a sony hi-8 digital kinda like nden's but mines a way older model mines only 240x zoom

but it's probably 6~ yrs or older.........can't remember for sure.....but it's made numerousssssss trips to the woods and I've never had a problem  ......knock on wood......

I just bought a new dig camera it's a kodak and it will also take video IIRC.......the reason I bought it instead of a sony was price/compared to features I wanted   I wanted one that would take AA rechargebale bats .......trying to standardize batrys

Hope mine holds up better than ndways sis' did.......

If it'll hold like four min. of video and has sound and a zoom lens, then its probably like the one my sisters got, she said she hasn't had any probs with the new one, but I don't know, she won't let me use it, the one I got my mom comp disk wont load, used the online feature it said to use and it locked up her comp for naerly all day, but I think her comp needs more memory, I bought one of these hp 4x6 stand alone photo printers at walmart the other day on clearance sale for $60, any camera will work with it and it will accept the memory cards, the prints look pretty decent, their not as good as the kodak printer I bought my mom, but it was less than half the cost and can use any brand photo paper and the ink cartidge is $18, the kodak kit cost $25 for forty prints, now I just need the camera I like, gonna use my minolta with high speed film for the better pics and the digital for cheap and easy prints.

Alright got a Canon 5mp camera that will take videos. What I am thinking about is a straight movie making Digital Camcorder. Not the miniDVD type, but one that takes the 1 hr cartridges.
All so we can film some deer and coyote kills. Anybody have one of the Panasonic DVR or another type?

hey Dan you ever look over at eppersons on 3k block of N. May, they had all kinds of digital cameras and videos cams last time I was there, they were priced a bit more than wal mart, but they had a much larger selection.

Epperson's once screwed me big time and they will never see me walk in their door again!
L, thanks for the suggestion, though!
