Del. Helmer is on record in a committee hearing stating the Dems want these guns gone. The path to a ban of possession will begin with registration and a “buy-back,” and culminate in a forced dispossession. Expect a ban on pressure-bearing components to precede the aforementioned. The US will follow blueprint of GB and AUS. |
| Note that if that news story is right the RI proposal won't allow possession by individual LEOs but by LE agencies. I don't want any of these laws proposed but I'd rather see that language to help get LEOs to join the fight instead of giving them special rights. |

They will still have access 24/7 to their dept.-issued ARs. Personally-owned ARs are a no-go though. |

LIS just updated that HB217, the House version of AWB, was signed by the Senate President and House Speaker on 3/30 and 3/31 respectively, and sent to the Governor. The legislative session ended on 3/14. Status: Awaiting Governor's Action Assault firearms & certain ammunition feeding devices; purchase, sale, etc., prohibited, penalties. https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB217 This means SB749 and HB217 are both on Spanberger’s desk. Will she veto one and sign the other? |

You know, Instead of voters picking representatives, representatives pick voters. |

Helmer announced his run for the district that was set up to conveniently include his house a couple weeks ago. They all seem to think that this is a foregone conclusion, and the courts aren't going to be any help since they took the approach of "Let's hear what the people think." Unfortunately, most people don't bother to understand anything they vote for or are just "Orange Man bad!" voters so they'll read "restore fairness" and think that that's a good thing (you know, sort of like the "common sense gun laws" we'll see these guys pushing). So they'll vote for it and political power and control gets solidified. |

You can train around that, I certainly had no issues to near 700 yards with my FS2000. |

I’ve only shot the Hellion once at a rental range, but two additional features that appeal to me over the others are the adjustable length stock and the AR-compatible pistol grip (the BCM Mod 3 that it comes with is my preferred grip, but anyone can change it to their favorite). |

The Demonrats are definitely calculating. Governor Snow signs bill, with more restrictive amendments - sent back to legislature - exactly one week from the special election on re-redistricting. * Does this mean that tallying the early voting numbers they project the referendum has passed? * Are the numbers low and they're trying to rally their base with this AWB nonsense? * Adds an emergency clause for UBCs which has a vote threshold of four-fifths of the members voting in each house of the General Assembly. * Just set up a 14th amendment issue with latest changes to the assault weapon bill. Was this on purpose to poison the bill? Or are they that stupid? * Are they trying to rile up 2A groups to organize a protest in Richmond this weekend before the special election vote? - Makes for great content, the boogie man is personified. |
|
It is hard to tell - there were rumors recently on adding a permit to purchase. Maybe that is tied in with the hunting guns. Or maybe was BS or a smoke screen. We are all sure they are dragging this out to avoid messing up the redistricting vote. VSP announcement was odd. Strategic or a mis-direct? There could also be a lot of disagreement behind the scenes which is making things look spastic. Every one had their own agenda (or overlord, as in spambuger's case). |

How does an awb have anything to do with the 14th? 18-21 year Olds? I thought she was asking for more clamped downs. |

I told you guys about the UBC stuff, lol. All they had to do was remove the age restriction and bam, it's a done deal. With that said, my thought on the AWB is that they're going to include a registration with the local PD on it so that they can ID all grandfathered ones. That or require that magazines have a date on them. The whole "help LE" is basically some sort of registration hint, in my opinion but I guess we shall see. Along with the VSP talking about door to door confiscation, I believe this is a hint to all that. They're going to require some sort of mass registration system. |
|
I'll need to read the actual proposed changes, but I believe the governor has proposed a law that says that: Benelli M4 with M1014-style (long) fixed stock = not assault weapon Benelli M4 with 2-position (long and short) M1014-style stock (which would be an aftermarket add-on) = assault weapon Benelli M4 with aftermarket Mesa Tactical Urbino fixed (short) stock = not assault weapon This kind of pointless crap needs to be called out. It literally has no point, unless the aim is to ban variable length of pull in large shotguns. |

Along with the VSP talking about door to door confiscation, I believe this is a hint to all that. They're going to require some sort of mass registration system. That’s not what came out with the amendments this morning. The amendment proposed was to take out pistol grips from the shotgun features and to change definition 1 of an AW to a semi auto with a capacity of 15 instead of a fixed capacity. Combined with the change to 1524 it means you can’t carry anything holding over 15 rounds. |
|
The proposed changes have to do with not making several semi auto shotguns assault weapons to be used for hunting still. There was also a UBC added and put into effect immediately and directed VSP to conduct background checks again. Also safe storage was changed to allow trigger locks to render weapons safe instead of a mandatory safe. But ultimately this was done to not sway the redistricting vote on April 21. I’m Pretty positive the release from VSP Lt. Col. was also meant to not sway the redistricting vote and not make gun control the agenda. This is not Canada and LE are not gonna risk their lives over gun confiscation! Most would quit. We are humans and have the care about the constitution and second amendment rights like the rest of you and not robots taking unconstitutional orders like some of you all believe. |
|
Washington Gun Law on youtube dropped a video with the send back changes. highlights- Underage possession (21) will be immediate, not July 1 Even if high cap mags are grandfathered. will be against the law to carry them in public (pistols included ) UBC are coming back. I may have misunderstood some of his wording. (I hope so) but he did say the changes are worse then the original bills. He has been dropping a lot of info & I have looking out for his videos. vcdl hasn't undated anything. |

We are no longer on the same side in va. None of us will trust you come July 1. You are the enforcement wing of all this. I used to be "on the side of LE". Used to do things like a courtesy inform if Im carrying or have a firearm in the car. That changed with an encounter with a smartassed Yorktown / York Co PD / sheriff who said he would have arrested me if I didn't tell him. I told him well next time you can try, because you just ruined it for all you buddies. You might not be stupid enough to come to my door, but you know damn well you'll hem somone up when you pull them over and they have a G17 or VP9 with a 17 round factory mag in it. We aren't stupid. |

| I saw on Reddit where someone was saying if you buy a handgun after July 1st then your grandfathered mags can't be used with that gun. Example: My G17 mags I have now can't be inserted in that gun. Is that true or misinterpreted. I didn't see anything about that in the proposed changes but I might not have been looking at the right bill. |

Good people will be jailed, or worse murdered, by over zealous cops/ judges/ etc. |
| You’re the one(s) separating into groups. Pure bullshit coming from some of you. You have not had one LE say to you we are in two different groups now. Place the blame where it lies who made these bills not LE! Sorry you had a bad experience with LE but there are bad apples in every career and to blanket everyone is ridiculous. |
| I’m with cryo_tech on this. While I’ve not had a bad experience with LE in the past and I realize there are a lot of bad apples in the business, I have not trusted anyone in LE for years. There are too many examples of them NOT using common sense and “just let things be” …they either want to prove something or something else. The main problem for me with LE is the way you guys back each other to the death and I’m not talking about an arrest or something “job” related, I’m talking about when the guy has violated someone’s constitutional rights or even the law. Yep, he might get written up and maybe a couple days off without pay, but he’ll be back on the job violating again or fired and another agency will pick him up. There was a time when I would have helped someone that needed it...not anymore. I'm not risking my life, livelihood or anything else for someone that would not return the favor. God forbid I had to shoot someone to save a life, only to be charged with having a magazine that held 17 rounds instead of 15... |

When LEOs openly criticize unconstitutional laws rather than using them as additional tools for lazy policing (racking up additional charges for criminals in possession) then they'll have my trust. Not until then. 1) Criticize the legislature for not passing constitutional carry for law abiding citizens. 2) Criticize the legislature for new hardware laws (including the LE exemption) for the law abiding. 3) Critizice the legislature for coming infringements on carry permit reciprocity for law abiding. 4) Criticize the legislature for new storage requirements for law abiding citizens (which includes funding for LE to buy new storage devices for their homes.) 5) Criticize the legislature and special interest gun control groups for their false narratives on what crime is and isn't. You get the point. Just because there isn't yet a confiscation order doesn't mean it isn't time for the enforcers to be critical. |

many years ago, when the company I worked for had police as security, some of the older guys and I would discuss firearms etc, I asked about what they did when someone , like a widow, did when they called to have guns removed from the home (Spouse pass, etc etc) the older guys would go look, and buy them, at extremely cheap prices, but give the widow some $$ and move on, the younger guys wrote up a report, chunked the guns in the trunk, and turned them in to be deposed off, same guys told me, if they ever had to go door to door, the younger guys would not have a problem kicking in the door and taking whatever I have or had no reason to not believe what they told me, and not sure if it has changed in the 12+ yrs since I had that convo,, (Betting those older guys are all now retired) |
